Nice AT, she looks real good! I like the color splat motif or if you want to, it can also be a blood and brain matter splat. Either way, very nice!

Thanks very much

The corner looked empty and I tried a few different things but this worked best. If I can remember, I'll link to the Splatter Brushes I used (found 'em thru Google if I recall).

That is pretty cool AT. Like I told you before, I'm still a newbie when it comes to coloring using the photoshop or in my case I use Gimp2 program. It is pretty good, but I got a ways to go with it. So, I'm trying to just paint straight up with it, as if I was doing it the old fashion way. I do know where some filters are, like for light and things like that. However, I see you and others who have master it to the point of using gradients and making things look very realistic. I tell you I have seen some pics that are like "holy crap!"

Thanks very much man!

I started by reading a lot of tutorials and playing around in Photoshop to figure out what works and what doesn't (and my gallery is littered with the results of both haha).

The big complaint I have about it though is that inking is a pain. I'd love something that works more like a natural brush than the jittery pain in the ass that the Photoshop brush is

I have read a little bit here and there, but I think I just don't have as much patience as it is required. Normaly, when I draw on a regular pad and I color it using markers and stuff, I'm quick but not using the computer. Anyway, you said something about jittery, on the Gimp there is the pressure sensitivity selector. You can select jitter or not. Sometimes when I move from one tool like pencil to the brush or paint sprayer, the jitter thing gets selected. I take it off as soon I see it happen. Do Photoshop has something like that?
Well, you have seen my pics, on some I do better than others. I don't use layers so I paint directly in them. So, I at least want to get better as to soften up the colors and manipulate them so the pic will look better than too flat. Sorry for all of the rant, hope I did not bored you.

I use the pen tool and fiddle with brush settings all the time on things I really care about. A lot of fan art is easy because it's traditional cel animation so it's usually anywhere from a 3 to 6 pixel diameter brush and then I sharpen out the edges and do all the little fiddly bits with pressure sensitivity turned on. But even still, I'd like to be able to throw away the shackles that is the Pen tool and just draw some decent lines but it always comes out like I'm an old man strapped to a paint shaker.

Apparently there are better tools for inking but I don't have the inclination to learn anything new at the moment.

I guess we are in the same boat. The one thing I do want to do is present better works. I can sketch something good, but I would love to be able to paint it and make it look like some of the pics I see here. It will take some work from my part to get that good, so I just continue playing around and checking things out. The thing about it for me is the patience factor.

AtomicTiki In reply to Lpsalsaman [2009-02-05 14:11:03 +0000 UTC]

Oh I have zero patience. So learning this stuff was frustrating at the time (and sometimes still is!). The important thing is to keep playing around One day you find you have a great set of skills you didn't know you possessed.

Also, if you ever have questions about how to do things, just let me know!

I'm hoping to start a comic project up one of these weekends and see what I can do in b&w in just 24 hours. I'm thinking of using her as a character...

Really then it's a good thing that Leiji Matsumoto is in 2 of the things on my DA page

I also have to ask how is the Ranma/Akane pic going?

AtomicTiki In reply to StormRider24 [2009-02-05 02:20:39 +0000 UTC]

he is a master and influenced so many other great artists to be sure

Ooh, there must be some confusion (maybe on my part) I can't take on any requests/commissions at the moment.

It is in my idea box though but it might be a long time before I can get to it...

Gotta draw some Ranma 1/2 at some point soon

StormRider24 In reply to AtomicTiki [2009-02-06 22:25:42 +0000 UTC]

Why is getting a sub a bad idea?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AtomicTiki In reply to StormRider24 [2009-02-07 02:18:52 +0000 UTC]

It gives money to deviantArt and they are in my bad books lately, also, you don't really get all that much for your money.

You get some stat tracking, some customization ability and that's about it.
