It's true and on one hand I'd like to think so but on the other hand I'm not sure I'd like a remake
It's great as it is

Well there's a lot of errors with that sketch so... I guess as long as you aren't selling them. Would be nice to see up front.
I only get pissed if someone edits my pics... if ya can wait I can send you a version that would fit in the card better.

I only did the cards as a lark, wasn't planning to do anything with them.
I'll be happy to put any (or no) pic you like into a card format for you if have any interest in that, creating little character cards for you.

heck I'll share the cards (well the images) too. Since I do it all up o my computer I'll send them over to whenever I do them.
There's a few different styles of card for you to choose from,
There's the extended art style -- [link]
Split card style (has 2 cards on 1) -- [link]
Standard card style -- [link]
Planeswalker card style -- [link]
The bulk of the cards are in the standard 'look' (there's an old school and new school styles of that to boot)
Planeswalkers were exceptionally powerful individuals (think Q from Star Trek: TNG)but are now people with massive abilities.
Split cards are great because for 4 card slots you have an either/or choice from 8 cards. Help double up on things.

I used to play tons of Magic back in the mid-90s, in the DCI tour and everything. But then college and a lack of money due to living expenses changed that haha.

*shrieks like a schoolgirl* I got into it probably when you were getting out of it. What colors and types of decks did you play? Have you kept your old cards?

AtomicTiki In reply to JonnySchweer [2010-11-13 18:25:09 +0000 UTC]
I have all my old stuff. I was primarily a white weenie player or black/white combo deck. For some reason I loved tokens so you'd be faced fighting a horde of 1/1 white creatures all banded together through Benalish heroes and the like while Serra angels rained down terror. I usually had a swappable sideboard ready to mix up direct black damage/effects or white flying and a few heavy hitting black cards.
I think my favourite cards were the Kjeldoran Outpost and Mishra's Factory and lots of cheap white creatures and a few black heavy hitters (oh Hypnotic Specter you whupped so many of my foes...).
I also liked artifacts, I had a nothing but artifact deck and while it usually didn't do a lot every now and then I'd be able to make it work and do some serious damage.
Again, I absolutely loved Ice Age/Alliances and 4th edition when it came out and finally made some cards that were in Antiquities available for tourney play.
I used to go to school with a guy who started playing as soon as the game had launched, he had every Magic card from first (limited) edition all the way up to whatever was current. I've seen both a black bordered Chaos Orb and Black Lotus in play in the same game, not many people can say that (or... would probably want to).
Ahh those were the days...

JonnySchweer In reply to AtomicTiki [2010-11-13 20:33:24 +0000 UTC]
*shrieks* the guy has a Black Lotus? He probably had a few more. Talk to him, their book value is about $400 in good condition and to collectors, because they are so coveted now, can fetch close to $2000.
Did you have all four of the art prints of Mishra's Factory, there was one for each season.
Artifacts got an insane boot with the Mirrodian block which was an artifact based block (has three sets) including Cranial Plating -- [link] -- and artifact lands, so you could have a completely artifact deck.
I liked the Lorwin block since it was two sets of two and gave Elves a massive boost. I wasn't too particular to elves until I started playing them and then "hello!!"
Wizards of the coast are not giving a lot of token cards with the various sets. I suppose it's a lot easier than using a pocket full of change or beads.
And speaking of weenie creature tokens I actually had some fun and created a bunch myself for the hoot of it
1 / 1 Weenies -- [link]
2 / 2 Weenies -- [link]
I want to create another set of 1/1 and 2/2 weenies with new pictures, would you be able to help me with it and create a picture for them?

AtomicTiki In reply to JonnySchweer [2010-11-15 03:35:41 +0000 UTC]
I just have the one printing, I got it in a pack of Antiquities before they sold out.
I remember when Magic first came out so many people scoffed at it (myself included). Now I kick myself for not getting in earlier.
Things sure started to go downhill pretty fast after 4th edition though. I remember all the new expansions and rules and the GIANT set of DCI rules and text revisions. I got out of tourney play because trying to memorize more than 500 pages of in-cycle errata was getting tedious... I miss the old days of Magic haha

Yeah I heard stories about that. "Who want's free mana? I don't want any free mana. Who needs free mana? I sure don't need free mana. Pfaa free mana be gone."
And as a lard there was one unhinged card which is a real hoot -- [link]
So much evil.
Granted there's a lot of rules. I found out there was a rule (something like #100 part c) which actually sad, "Do what is said on the card." And most of the people I play with is the standard format and if there is any errat, what the card says takes precedence.
Anywho, would you be willing to doodle up a picture or two for a new set of Weenie Tokens?

AtomicTiki In reply to JonnySchweer [2010-11-15 13:30:11 +0000 UTC]
Back in the day land was so freakin' common they had a big box of it in the store and you could just grab whatever you liked out of it.
Ahh, Unhinged... I thought some of the stuff they came up with in InQuest was better but still pretty good, there was a guy who could summon squirrel tokens, I remember him!
I might do some Magic art but I'll do my favourites only like "Hand of Justice" from Fallen Empires or "Seraph" from Ice Age.

JonnySchweer In reply to AtomicTiki [2010-11-15 19:26:28 +0000 UTC]
He he, the comic store I used to go to had casual magic tournaments a few nights a week and he had one of those 6,000 count card boxes as a "commons" bin filled with common cards from various sets and there were hundreds of land cards. Going through the bin I was thinking that Richard Garfield must have been using those land cards like toilet paper.
Well if you want to create any of your own Magic cards I'll be happy to jerry rig the art into a card.
Squirrel tokens? Would it be Squirrel wrangler?

Haha, yeah those were the days man... I can think of a few Saturday afternoons I spent playing Magic!
I wonder whatever happened to Richard Garfield, the man was a freaking legend by 1997 and just sort of faded away once WoC died (err, was sold off).
Sweet, well I'll keep that in mind!
I believe you are correct, it's been ages!

JonnySchweer In reply to AtomicTiki [2010-11-16 04:28:48 +0000 UTC]
I suppose r. Garfield is thinking of new and ingenious ways to take money from the pockets of gamers such as myself and put into his. I know it's almost like during your turn forcing an opponent to tap all his lands and give the mana to you. *evil cackle* So many possibility.
Here's the card -- [link] -- if it was an elf I could work with it. Heck I probably could create a mana-producing elf deck and slip four of the wranglers into the deck.
"you have no lands."
"but I got a billion 1/1 squirrels coming at you!! Suck on that!!"
If I do have a few ideas for a Magic card I'd like to bounce off you. I figure that at very least we could be infamous for creating a whole set of cards.

I thought Garfield retired a while back, maybe I'm wrong.
Oh yeah, there ya go, lots of weenie tokens. Though my favourite weenies were the flying 1/1 Kjeldoran Outpost ones
I really should do some fantasy style art, that's one thing I've never done.

JonnySchweer In reply to AtomicTiki [2010-11-16 09:00:05 +0000 UTC]
Nah Garfield's still going strong. Jon (Garfield's owner) is now dating Liz is a major story arch. one of the few Garfield story arch was Odie's original owner Lyman came over, brought Odie with him and then disappeared I was always wondering what happened t him.
Well, for some "cat tokens" I could always butcher the pic you did of Mirage in princess Jasmine's outfit. They'd some of the most sexy looking tokens board.

Only thing is I think Mirri Cat Warrior might get all Mirri The Cursed on Raksha, Golden Cub if she got him fooling around with a Mirage Kitty token card.
Speaking of which, here's Magic The Gathering themed card of Mirage, which one do you like?

Do you mind if I put it up on my page with a reference to you and the original picture?
Although before you answer that, can you think of three 'abilities' that Mirage could do and I could then turn her into a planeswaler. I can figure 2 abilities +1 -- counter target spell and +1 redirect spell that targets one of your creatures to another target creature.

AtomicTiki In reply to JonnySchweer [2010-11-22 04:34:29 +0000 UTC]
Sure, just make sure you link back and I'm cool with it.
As for abilities, Mirage is pretty tricky, it would be cool to tap her and turn an opponents creature into a 1/1 token under her control

JonnySchweer In reply to AtomicTiki [2010-11-22 04:40:56 +0000 UTC]
oh something like -1 target creature loses all abilities and becomes 1/1 and you gain control of target creature until end of turn.
