Anyone else notice the Hieroglyphs on the spino's sails!?!?!

I've never seen the spinosaurus' sail depicted this way. It is normally shown to be more bony and flat. I think this version seems more realistic as well as more beautiful.

I totally agree! I've never seen this style of restoration, but I really love the concept!

That's pretty awesome. How do you draw the scales on the dinosaurs? because I always struggle to draw small scales on my pictures?

Spinosaurus was clearly larger and more powerful than Carcharodontosaurus. And besides, look how the other Spino is positioned. They got swag too.

Spinosaurus had a pitifully weak bite (as far as theropods go) and their large sail make them very frail (if the sail was used for thermoregulation a wounded sail would probably result in the Spinosaurus bleeding to death). Carcharodontosaurus was to apex predator of it's environment.

I have to disagree there.
The bite of a Spinosaurus had a strength of an estimated 2-3 tons. A T. rex had a bite force of an estimated 5 tons. The bite of a Spinosaurus was not as powerful as that of the king, but still powerful.
The bone structure that made up the sail/hump were just extensions for the spine. They were attached to it, but not so tight that it would kill the Spinosaurus if it were to break. And I doubt that any apex Theropod would die of blood loss any time soon. I mean, come on. Take the Allosaurus for example; they survived injuries that would kill. Not only that, Allosaurus were not only smaller but also weaker and lesser evolved than Spinosaurus.
I tell you, if they could survive something such as shattered bones or broken jaws, a Spinosaurus (being higher evolved, larger, and more powerful) could survive something like that as well.
I'm not saying that Carcharodonotsaurus is weak, I am just saying that Spinosaurus would be the only animal capable of rivaling the Carcharodontosaurus in their place and time.

Actually sorry to ruin your fun (the joke is funny and all) but the guy that isn't a Spinosaurus isn't T. rex but rather Carcharodontosaurus.

Carcharo: wha...
Spino 1: ...None shall pass.
Carcharo: Look I know you're enjoying the sun and all, but I must get to hunting.
Spino 2: Then you shall die.

a fight between a spino and a carcharo would have been quick, brutal, and probably had no clear winner.

spinosaurs drawn in perspective, they are a little larger carcharodontosaurus, just by the law of all prospects in the foreground - is larger.

atrox1 In reply to masterBo [2012-07-12 16:41:44 +0000 UTC]

masterBo In reply to atrox1 [2012-07-12 17:27:59 +0000 UTC]
