Today’s challenge is…“Oh sweet Celestia we killed Twilight!”
Let that sink in for a second.
You know for a minute at least some of those poniies thought they just murdered their good friend Twilight. That’s a black scorch mark. It doesn’t speak of something nice normally and I think you can also see what I mean in their faces.
So what you’re to draw is what happened in that window between Twilight’s ‘death’ and return. Or you could go more ‘what if that actually happened’ if you would like. Whichever inspires you darlings~

So... I thought, what if they did the askh-ente rite (summon death, and ask things if needed) from Terry pratchett's Discworld?
This was happened in Colour of Magic, when the wizards summoned Death, and he was at a masquerade party. At the end of the discussion:
Galder: I said I hope it is a good party.
AT THE MOMENT IT IS. I THINK IT MIGHT GO DOWNHILL VERY QUICKLY AT MIDNIGHT. Galder: Why?
THAT'S WHEN THEY THINK I'LL BE TAKING MY MASK OFF.

The sticks are easy to come by, they had more trouble getting Fluttershy to acquire the mouse blood.

To make matters worse, it was daylight when Twilight vanished, and she didn't return until after dusk. (It would have been better had she actually returned during twilight hours.) And for all that time, her friends must have been seriously freaking the hell out!

Yeah... that scene bugged me. When the elements went off, it was definitely daytime. So the others probably hung around the library for the few hours or so it'd take for the sun to go down (during the Twilight hours, natch). Point is, the elements went off, Twilight disappeared and left a scorch mark, and that was all that they knew. I'd think they'd be happier that Twi was even alive before jumping to the wings (though, to be fair, she was very dramatic with the wings. Rarity was proud).

When I first saw the picture, the personification reminded me of Reaper Man. And then I read the description...

My favourite series ever combined with one of my current favourites! And as grim as the scenario looked, I don't mind saying this image of Death with a cocktail stick and drink with a little umbrella in it kind of brightened up a very sad day for me.
But, honestly, you're quite right. As far as *we* know Twilight would be fine, it must have been horrible for the ones who saw her disappear in a flash. It was dark when she returned, so it seemed she'd been gone for a while...Who knows what would be going through their minds? Great idea, and it looks good here.

And it's a great idea for a picture. Though I think summoning Death is something the CMC might have done by accident.

Yeah,I also said out loud at the moment "OH BOLLOCKS! DID THEY JUST KILL TWILIGHT!?" cause they looked pretty mortified and as you said,a scorching mark where one used to be doesn't usually mean GOOD things...or at least one would never associate one with the other...

Discworld Death- One of the few times you can actually call Death both a protagonist and generally a nice guy to be around.
