Her hand is larger due to it being closer to the camera. It's perspective. And I believe the sheet of cloth above her butt represents the tail.

It has nothing to do with perspective. And upon further inspection (and holding a sword myself), her hand is normal. Actually, it does have a little bit to do with perspective, in that the WEAPON looks larger than it is, not the hand, although it also has to do with how the weapon is made.
