Description
the two on the right side use rings of light shaped like steps to the center, the difference is that far right uses the full area, while the other uses a smaller ring for my hopes of a sharper caustic effect.the left two use three separate cylinders inside the larger one, again at varied lengths to provide the different sized shadows. the far left one was sized down on the bottom end of each ring again in hopes of sharper edges on the effect.
unlike a true caustic version of these lamps which creates a massive amount of noise these clear up pretty fast as you can see above only has 500 passes. down side is firstly that they are naturally much less bright, I found that the power of these lamps is around two orders of magnitude less bright then ones I made with mirrors.
And my apologies for the jpeg noise, just noticed that.

This would be a great tutorial on these types of lights, Perhaps if you included an OpenGL render of the wires to beter understand the emission structure.
