Fur Description: For his looks it could almost seem that Brownpaw is different that the rest of his family. His coat composed of several shades of brown, tones from further up Platinumfire's bloodline has made him the odd one among the mostly grey and black main tones siblings of his. His coat patterns however, take on Platinumfire's markings- a trait shared with a few of his brothers. His orange underbelly, standing out among the rest of his siblings, is color tone found on his uncle Ratscar. Finally his eyes are directly passed on from his mother. His namesake however, comes from a good friend of Nightstar's "Brownpelt" whom the two parents to name the young kit after.

-Backstory -

Pre-Birth:

Shalekit, Raccoonkit, Brownkit, Rosemarykit, Rookkit and Lunarkit are all born as their parents second litters. Nightstar, or Nightshade at the time having had Winterpaw, Foxpaw and Lightpaw with Moonfox before his mate was killed by a loner; while Platinumfire found herself pregnant with Sagepaw and Shriekingdawn who were children of the ex-Shallowclan "Riddle". The clan leader and deputy were first brought together when Riddle attempted to kill Platinumfire after things quickly got out of control when she had come to announce that she would become a warrior to her lover, Nightshade stepping in to save her after discovering that his old friend had killed his mate.
After that Platinumfire and Nightshade quickly grew to each other, soon announcing that the two were expecting kits after Platinumfire discovered that she was pregnant of Riddle's children. The clan came to believe that Sagepaw and Shriekingdawn were Nightshade's kits, the secret kept safe for many moons to come.

As the massacre came and went Nightshade was forced to step up to the role of leader, chosing the very cat he trusted the much to share all their secrets as his deputy. Life in Shallowclan seemed steady at first under Platinumfire and Nightstar's rule, but that quickly wavered when Thornheart went around spreading rumours of 1 leader and 1 deputy working for the League. This threw the two cats off as many of their clanmates proved to suspect them. Nightstar quickly became secluded from clan life, prefering to investigate what the League was up to rather than carry on his duties as a leader. After much struggle, especially after the catnapping of her son "Sagepaw", Platinumfire stepped up to her chose role and lead the clan when her mate couldn't. It took a near war between Streamclan and Shallowclan over the very League rogue who had taken Sagepaw to bring Nightstar back to his role of clan leader. Encouraged by his return the deputy discussed with her mate over the prospect of having true kits of their own, her mate agreed and several moons later Platinumfire announced her pregancy, prefering to carry on her job as deputy until Sagepaw suddenly returned carrying the news of Riddle's presence in clan territory.

Kit-hood:

Brownkit was born into a calm, yet crowded nursery. In addition to his five siblings there were several other kits present, some quick to move out while another queen moved in. As life in Shallowclan carried on as if nothing threatened it, Platinumfire was quick to make it clear to her children that bad cats could target them because of who their parents were, using Sagepaw as an example she warned them not to trust stranger and did not hesitate to frighten them with tales of Riddle.

These warning however, were something that Brownkit would happily ignore. Compared to his brothers Rookkit and Raccoonkit who would sleep, or Shalekit who would often hang around his mother, Brownkit was the adventurous one of the family- always spending every waking hour possible outside of the nursery. The kit would have slipped out of camp given the chance. But the one thing that would have stopped him happened.

Shalekit was dead. The young kit had been convinced to go out of camp by his friend Glintkit and the two had run into none other than Riddle himself. Upon learning who Shalekit's parents were the loner brutally killed the kit before Glintkit's eyes, sealing Brownkit's fate as one to remain in camp for good.

The war and after it
When the clan seemed to be at its weakest the League hit. First Lakeclan and Streamclan, then Shallowclan and Stoneclan. Together with his brother Rookkit, Brownkit was careful to hide between some bushes as they watched their father and uncle fight until the battle at Shallowclan camp ended. But what the two had missed was the incident that caused their mother to step down from the role as deputy that she had used to care for her clan.

Platinumfire had lost her eyesight, forcing her to move into the elders den while Sagecrest was chosen to step into the role after she requested him to. This was a shock to Brownkit's system. He had looked up to his mother for her rank, and now he saw her as having lost all her glory. Shaken the young kit would often visit her in the den, only drawn away when the time came for him to follow his dreams and train to be a warrior.

Apprentice-hood
Two moons had passed since the war and Brownpaw had finally begun his training to be a warrior! He was given Sharpstone as mentor, a strange she-cat who wasn't too different from Brownpaw in personality. But where he stopped at she would go on, often dragging him to go exploring and into all kinds of trouble. Despite this he would often train alongside his brother Rookpaw with Sharpstone's brother Tearshard. Together the four cats would teach each other new tricks, helping all to advance in their training.
