"Have you never heard the tales of your great-grandfather?" The old man chuckled, folding his arms as the young girl looked up at him in wonder. "Or your great-great grandfather? He made this town, you know - before even I was born!"
"Wow!" The girl's eyes sparkled, mouth open in awe. "Did he fight monsters too?"
"Lots of monsters!" He grinned, lifting the girl up and placing her on his shoulders. "Maybe I'll take you hunting sometime, show you some of the monsters he fought."
"Did you fight monsters with him?" She asked, resting her elbows on his head. He chuckled, shaking his head.
"No, I never did go hunting with him... But he'd have loved to meet you." He sighed. "He was a good grandpa, just like how I'm a good grandpa!"
"Do you think Grandma would have liked me?"
"Kiddo..." His face softened into a gentle smile. "she'd have loved you."
