Is this from the Dune universe? I never knew the swordsmen had energy swords.
As a whole, I love the work and I think the robot is a sinister monster from a machine hell. Awesome, man

It's an element from the Dune books written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It's a disruptor/EMP weapon (or "pulse sword"), as featured in the "Legends of Dune" trilogy.

Ohhhhhhh, OK. I haven't read most of that series. I'm on the first book and got bored at a scene with Harkonnen and Butler. It started off with a bang and in my opinion is a good look at the world before Paul, but sometimes it goes on for a long time.

Yeah, I'm a fan of the new books but sometimes I question the need to "drag it out". You should check out the new book "Paul of Dune" (takes place between DUNE and DUNE:Messiah), it's very self contained. Also I felt the writing was fairly tight and to the point, IMHO it was their best Dune work to date.

I think that's the problem with the new ones, as well. They drag.
I saw the new book, but I'm not exactly sure if it's needed. I haven't read it, but I'm just not sure about it's importance. I'm super attached to the originals of Frank. May favorite book of all of em is the first book. Just "Dune

Oh no, nothing was "needed", the new stuff is for the rabid Dune fan. For those who just want more.
They are good but when you compare something to Frank's work it tends to pale.

I really love that picture, the machine is just creepy! Must be the smoke that makes it so mysterious and all that!
I've recently started my attempt to make some models for Troll Forged Miniatures (forum: [link] and the website: [link] ) which happen to be some sort of robot/mechanoid/whatever. Funnily enough some of the concept art I made for it seems a bit similar to your machine...or maybe it's the fact that they're both tall creepy robots!

I was afraid it looked like a "Transformer"
Once I inked it I was like "Hmmmmmmm A little Decepticony of you Simon!"
But yeah, I came to the same conclusion, big ass robots is big ass robots! lol

It's actually just a random Sword Master and a random robot.
I'm working on a sweet page right now that has Jol Noret and a bunch of Jihadi commandos fighting a Cymek. I can't wait to post it but it's still far from done.

i await it's arrival impatiently. have you ever thought about getting someone to color for you? or coloring yourself if you're good at it? there is seriously not nearly enough dune art out there, especially dune legends art.

Actually yes, I do employ a colorist (for my professional stuff), I don't mind coloring my "fun" stuff but when it comes down to work I like to focus on my lines and ink. Also I'm a traditional artist and my colorist is a digital type, together we can produce whip crack tight images. I'll post samples of our joint work here when the book is done but can't until it's in production
However if you know of anyone intersted in trying to color my DUNE fan comic, I welcome all comers. I'd really love to see it colored but just don't have the time to hand paint the pages.

i'd say best thing to do would be to post it up on here uncolored and see if people feel like coloring it. i have a friend who colors random ass pictures all the time
