i used my 50mm 1.8 & 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 in the reversed lens technique. :)

This is an amazing photo of a fly. It is so crisp, and detailed! It could be used as stock, yes, but I like it by itself.

:D well, contrariwise to popular belief, stock is supposed to be good photos on its own for artists to work with, not just some snapshot that should be "sent to the stock account"

so i do my best to provide real stock for the artists of dA. ♥

Great shot! How did you get it so clear? I tried yesterdat to take a shot like this but couldn't get close enough and it kept bluring. You us close up lenses?

AttempteStock In reply to Hacky-Sack [2007-06-03 16:04:33 +0000 UTC]

oh yeah.. and out of all possible "poor man's macro lenses", i used the reversed lens technique. :)

AttempteStock In reply to Hacky-Sack [2007-06-03 15:58:02 +0000 UTC]

you absolutely have to use your camera in manual modes, or at least understand how to, in order to do this technique (or just take extreme macros in general). the main part of this technique is making up for the problem you ran into - being unable to focus so closely. normally (if you have money), one would just buy a very good macro lens, but there are many alternative ways to get close. they're quite popular and you can read all about them online. :)
