I still think the hair I painted was rough, but I'm managing the skin!
If you want use watercolor I advise that you study shadow/light (check out some of my previous drawings on just that) and start painting from the darkest areas, so that you can get a good gradient.
Oh, and last tip I could think of on the top of my head... always add a cold color to the mix for skin, or else it'll look like the person got spray tanned! (i used yellow, vermillion and green)
