Description
My snarkybutt sandfury troll, Mabsutah. Bedouin, Tuareg influences on the clothes and jewelry. Pet is obviously based on an Egyptian vulture, herp.Mostly just an excuse for more portrait practice. There's parts I like and parts I don't, but it's good enough to set down and move on to the next project to claim my critically short attention span.

Can I date him? Please? Very good artwork and color details, I have a human healer, but I wish I can mod her outfit like a plauge doctor, but in white.

Wow! I love his jewelry and his vulture! I wish more people roleplayed the other races... well, roleplayed them -well-, at any rate. I love the contrast between his lovely skin color and the blue of his tattoos and clothing <3 The colors and shading really make him. I wish I was half the artist you are!

I love this pic. I was curious - did someone try to garrote him at some point?

Something like that, yes. I have too damned many characters with neckscars from various garrotes, blades, hanging ligatures, etc. 8D

One of the things I really admire about your art is the amazing ability you have to make even the most unusual fantasy races look believable. The vulture's face is stunning as well.

Loving that vulture! (And the ultra-awesome troll, but that's obvious, trolls are win.)
Tusks look a little funny - a bit offset, maybe? - but other than that, I can't see a thing wrong with this.

Very nice. The colors are rich and organic, like oil paint, and the level of detail is spot on. The only thing I can find off is the tusks: trolls tusks appear to be rooted into the maxilla, not the mandible, and are usually a good three inches in diameter. But other than that, I've scarcely seen such a striking and substantial portrait of a troll. Every line in his skin and every strand of hair looks wonderfully convincing. I'm a fan of your artwork, and can't wait to see more!

Did you mean that they usually appear rooted in the mandible? Because they do appear so in-game, I just take some artistic/biological liberties with mine and try to angle them as if they were protruding from the maxilla instead, for greater support and stability. Possibly I just failed portraying that haha.
Thank you!

No, I meant the maxilla. I always thought that troll tusks were rooted into the cheekbone, like those of elephants. Like you said, it provides greater stability for what one would assume to be some pretty heavy chunks of bone. As far as I've seen this seems to be the case in the game; trolls' tusks don't really move when they speak, and peer out from the sides of the mouth rather than sticking out of the jaw. However, I certainly don't have the best vision, and may not be seeing the models the same way you do.
Either way, we are both getting at the same thing, and that is that troll tusks, by most anatomists' sense, ought to grow out of the maxilla. I guess what I was trying to say was that the tusks seem a bit thin, but then again, I have a really hard time drawing them myself.

Oh, haha. Well mine are definitely rooted in the maxilla, though whether they're too thick or thin I guess is personal judgment mixed with artistic license. I am so out of practice with trolls 9_6

Heh, that's pretty much how I draw trolls: making it up again each time I do it. I like to take my skull model and stick a pencil between the jaw and the maxilla to get an idea of the... trajectory of the tusks.
My lord, this is one of the nerdiest conversations I've had in weeks.

Wooow! Your painting skills keep improving! Love all the details here, and something about the colors is just so rich, like a traditionally-painted piece. Rock on!!

A very handsome troll. The attention to detail in his jewelry and face is really lovely. The blue eyes are also quite stunning. Good job. I especially love the vulture.
