Personality
Calla is a strict Didact who cares much for the well-being and learning of her students. She does not hesitate to correct misconceptions and errors and can seem fierce when doing so, but generally has a gentle touch (both literally and metaphorically). For her, there is kindness in strictness.

She acts very professionally with her students, but once they are qualified she is more open to friendly relations. Even then, she can seem rather cold, distant, and polite - she's the type to sit or stand with perfect posture wherever she goes, in any setting. She does enjoy the company of others, however, and she is happy to teach the students at the Academy.

The only times she unwinds are when she is alone. She keeps a garden in a section of the Academy with various flowers, including, of course, calla lilies. In the garden, she might meditate, create journal data cubes, or play various stringed instruments. She enjoys trying out different ones, and sometimes she will open a window to her garden and let the sounds drift into the hallways of the Academy.

History
Calla was one of the first Phelions to join Kaluin in their founding of Periapsis and the Academy. She was a witness to the meteor's fall, only about nine years old at the time, and was one of the first to begin developing Phelion abilities, less than ten years later.

Prior to that, she lived a fairly normal life attending high school. She participated in various club sports including martial arts, and was well-known for being quite a challenge in a spar.

Camile, as she was known as at the time, hid her abilities when she first started developing. She began to feel a connection to others, however - the hivemind was developing. Then, in 2045, Kaluin revealed themself, and Camile understood what that strange pull she'd been feeling was. That year, she achieved the Shift, called herself Calla, and joined Kaluin in their ascent to the stars.

She and other Phelions worked alongside Kaluin to create the Academy. With her experience, she began helping new Phelions through the process of learning how to use her abilities. In 2050, Kaluin asked if she wanted to become a "didact" of the Academy, and she agreed.

Then, five years later, the Aphels attacked. She was a major contributor to fighting them off - and to watching many of her companions be rendered vegetative by the attack. She began to focus her own skill development and her education of others on combat and defense, and became one of the most well-known Phelions in the Academy. Kaluin developed the different divisions of the Academy, and Calla asked to be one of the leading members of the Defense division.

Calla's courses became a core part of the Defense curriculum, and many students received her teaching throughout the years. Aleiren was one of her pupils, and they were one of the most obsessive workers she'd seen in her long life. She did not try to make them slow down, however - she only made sure Aleiren knew their limits and did what they wished to the best of their ability.

During one of the practical Defense sessions on Earth, with Calla as the overseer and Aleiren among the students present, they detected a nearby Aphel attack. It was then that they met Irin , a human who would become the Phelion Orvis in the future.

Not too long after came an unexpected attack on the Academy during one of Calla's training sessions in space. She made the decision to have the students fight, but this resulted in Aleiren becoming Aphel-touched. Calla felt responsible and checked in on them from afar, but did not speak to them more than a few times during their recovery. They quickly got back on their feet, though perhaps not at 100%, and Calla then helped Aleiren with the last stretch of their qualifications. Afterwards, Aleiren approached Calla on more informal terms and the two developed something of a friendship.

As for Orvis - Calla checked in on Irin every now and then to check on how he was doing. He achieved mergence, after the attack on Aleiren, and he attended one of Calla's classes. However, it was not suited for him and he quickly dropped out; Calla continued to visit him occasionally with no hard feelings. After Orvis achieved his qualifications, the two continued to maintain a casual but friendly connection with one another.

She continues to act as Didact and board member of the Defense division today, dedicated to her work.
