Description The title pretty much sums it up. To make a long story short, I was vedging out on MSN one day and talking to my sister, when we had one of those stupid power outages (we get them all the time here). When I turned my computer on after it finished, I found the chat still open with Edward Elric on! D:

...Which is weird, because I don't think MSN existed in Amestris...O_o

*runs off snickering*

Edward Elric and Fullmetal Alchemist © Hiromu Arakawa and some other people who aren't me, sadly.
MSN © ...someone who again, isn't me.

Lol, I should seriously come up with a plot for that story, but to do that pretty well means I have to bump it up on the priority ladder, and if I do that, what happens to the things that are already high on the priority ladder? *shrugs* Should probably finish a thing or two for once, shouldn't I? Hehe...I wonder exactly what the plot WOULD be for a story like that though, hehe.

Hmmm...girl has net friend that she doesn't know is Edward Elric...Edward Elric is in this world ((obviously, or he wouldn't be able to use the computer))...somehow they bump into each other...maybe he's using the library computers and she happens to go to the library and bumps into him and both of them spill all their books? *snickers* Who knows? LOL! Fun to think up new storylines though...even though I do that way more often than I should, considering that it takes so long to get the stories OUT, hehe. Can't seem to shut off the stream of ideas though without making my muse run off to find someone else to toy with, so I guess I'll just have to deal with having more ideas than I can write about.

Hmmm...any ideas on a story like that? *snickers* Heck, I probably shouldn't be fleshing this story out in my head, but since it's already in there, I might as well entertain it.

Anyway, take care, and have a nice day!

Melissa

I know what you mean! I have so many story ideas constantly popping into my head, and it makes it murder to focus on just one!

...I would totally read that if you wrote it though You just need a spin on it! *ponders, suddenly thinks of something* Hey, what if the real world turned out to be Amestris in the future? The same year as us and stuff, but with a different history!

LOL, I'm sorry. I'm not helping.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-08 01:58:02 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm...interesting idea, but I guess I don't totally get it. *snickers* I have pondered an idea before though of if something happened to screw up the dimensions where both our world and the FMA world were basically cut in half, but not evenly. So, you could be walking down the street when suddenly you find a building blocking the street that was never there before...and even worse, it's only half of a building, and the people inside it are scared and confused. Perhaps you go home and find that half of your house is missing as well, and combined with half of another house that shouldn't have been there. What bothers you is that your family always hung out in the living room at this time of day, and the living room was in the other half of the house...so where is your family? *snickers*

Then of course, there's the idea of separating both Ed and Al so that one's in one mishmash world and the other's in the other one, and naturally they'd both want to get back together, but...how? Hehe. That's an idea I've been pondering for some time. Not sure if it'd match up with the whole Ed on IM thing, but somehow your suggestion just reminded me of that. *snickers*

Ah, well, I can't seem to stop the ideas from coming, so I might as well entertain them and let them fester since they seem to want to so much. I'll get some more good books out of it that way, hehe. But I'll have to write those books up fast so that I can get around to the other stories, because more and more of them keep coming.

Yeah, I didn't explain it very well. And those two ideas sound interesting...maybe if you couldn't manage full stories for any of these, you could try drabbles? I might do something with that IM concept, if I could find a good angle on it.

Giving in to the plotbunnies generally works best, yes. You're going to have to start writing quicker if this keeps up!

Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-08 19:49:01 +0000 UTC]

Lol, this HAS been keeping up for YEARS! That's why I've been trying to learn to write so quickly, hehe. I wrote 13,954 words yesterday in five hours. ((Considering that the average adult-length novel is around 100,000 words, that's quite an accomplishment, hehe)) I have so many ideas that I want to write about that I've had to put on the back burner and just allow to simmer, hehe. Even this idea of Ed as a glowing alien being has been simmering for a long time, and is now finally coming up front to get its chance in the spotlight. I'm really amazed how much story there is to be told about Ed as an alien, really, hehe. I'm not even finished with the first novel, and I can already tell that this is going to be a series. Makes one wonder just how many stories I have in me about Ed as an alien, hehe. It's turning out to be quite fascinating though, hehe. The characters keep surprising me. They won't obey me anymore and they completely left the structure of the outline I rigged, so now I'm just watching to see what they do, because even I haven't a clue what they're doing anymore, hehe.

Yeah, you totally need to read that story. I think you'd enjoy it. It's so strange and cute...like all of my stories seem to be, lol. This is some of my best writing though, and it's the first one in ages that has kept me on edge because I didn't know where it was going...kind of like MBYS in a way. *snickers* I guess that we'll all find out together.

It's a really good story, if that's any consolation. I enjoyed it! So brillantly weird and off-the-wall, and I can't help but want more! *has speed read it*

Sometimes the stories with the least direction are the easiest ones to write. My two best stories started out that way!

Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-08 21:58:34 +0000 UTC]

Hehehe, thanks. I love to make my stories brilliantly weird and off-the-wall. *snickers* Have you seen the alien!Ed pics in my gallery? They bug me a little bit because the facial proportions are off, but I'm slowly improving, hehe. Maybe the next alien!Ed pic I do will have good proportions, hehe.

And yes, the stories with the least direction ARE the easiest ones to write, hehe. The trick is basically to get it to the point where it takes over and you have no more control, and then just kick back and see where it takes you. *snickers* So much fun when that happens, and it makes for an awesome story, since how can the reader know what's going to happen next if the author herself doesn't know? Hehe...best sound in the world is the sound of the readers' jaws dropping and hitting the floor.

Oh, yeah! I saw some of those! Man, I'd draw one for you but my scanner is MIA and I'm not sure what he looks like as an alien so much...

No kidding, I feel the same way!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-08 23:01:22 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, yeah, an MIA scanner is a bit of a problem. The drawing Ed as an alien isn't so hard though...just draw Ed, make him glow, and if you can figure out how to depict some of the glow that's coming off of him as being battered about by the wind, then you'll have him down. I draw things realistically, but I'm guessing that you'd probably draw him more in an animeish style, since most of my friends draw Ed that way, hehe. That's just as accurate as the realistic style really. Oddly enough, I have a harder time drawing anime style than realism. Go figure on that one, hehe.

And I don't remember what you feel the same way about, since I'm responding to this from my inbox rather than going directly to your deviation. *snickers* So I can't really respond to that last sentence, hehe, but I'm sure I felt that way about it when I said what you agreed to.

authoressarktos In reply to Reincarnated-Al [2008-09-09 01:05:36 +0000 UTC]

I can draw him realistically!...I've just never tried lol. It sounds simple enough, but which would you prefer?

Eh, something about stories writing themselves after a while, I think. Hard to keep track of this all, isn't it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-09 01:21:31 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, well, I'm partial to realism, but I'm accepting of anime style if you prefer it. I don't like pushing the artists out of their comfort zones, by any means. ((Though they sometimes push themselves out of their own comfort zones to try and meet up to my skills, which rarely ever works, lol. If they want to draw like me, then they should go and study figure drawing. ))

Hehe, yeah, it's hard to keep track of all this, but I think I get what you're talking about. I know I would most certainly agree with a comment about stories writing themselves after a while, hehe. Those are the best kind!

*snickers* It's fanart of my story, yes, but technically it's YOUR fanart, not mine. You're the one drawing it, hehe. I much prefer to leave things up to the artist. Your creativity comes out better when you make your own decisions rather than having someone else decide for you. ((And I could just be being lazy and not wanting to make up my mind, hehe.))

And yep, look at you, hehe. Now you're getting yourself lots of activity on your dA account because you're chattering away with me, hehe. Gee...as much as we chatter, we should really be talking on IM. *snickers*

Lol, in times of doubt, I just have a person face forward ((or at an angle if I prefer)) and do a portrait-type picture. However, if you prefer an action shot or something from one of the scenes, that could be anything...Ed tasting chocolate for the first time, Ed running up and down the stairs, the first reveal of himself to Al and Winry, etc. You could also speculate on what's to come and make up your own scene, or just draw something that you think is adorable or speaks to you in some way, like maybe him looking up at the stars. Lots of things would work fairly well, hehe...it depends on what triggers your creative muse into action.

*shifty eyes* They didn't hear me talking about IM, did they? We could shift that to talking about dA chatrooms instead, hehe.

Hehe, yep, my muse is a workaholic...well, if you can call him that. It's all play. If he can play, he'll work with me. If not, then nope. Zip, zilch, nada. See why my stories are so bizarre? *snickers* My muse refuses to get serious for even a second, but it's a lot of fun, all the same.

Yep, Big Brother Ed probably IS watching me as we speak. *snickers* He's a pest like that, never giving me any privacy, hehe. Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-10 18:43:11 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, if you add up the numbers in 1984, you get the number 22, which is considered a "Master Number" in Numerology. Hehe, go figure as to why George Orwell picked that year as the title of his book. Maybe there is something special about it, who knows? *snickers* If that's the case, I wonder what that means for someone born in that year...

Lol, and you never know, your birth year might be significant in some way, you just haven't figured it out yet. Even if not, no big. *snickers* Definitely don't be jealous of that master number. They're not overly common, but anyone who has them, according to Numerology, has some extreme positives and negatives added to their lives that others don't have: an extraordinary amount of potential in whichever field is stated ((basically the ability to change the world)), but an extraordinary amount of conflict that goes along with that.

I thought it was funny one time, I calculated the Numerology behind Ed's and Al's names, and wow, hehe. Hiromu Arakawa thinks she picked those names at random? I'm not convinced, hehe. Ed and Al have the number 11 showing up over and over again in their Numerology charts...which is another master number, which means it's not overly common to begin with. Also, all their 11s hit in the exact same places in their charts...so, an unusual number recurs multiple times in one person's chart and falls at the exact same places as the person you're most close to? What the heck? Hehe, even the name "Elric", when changed into numbers and added up, equals 11, indicating quite an intense family destiny. Random? I don't think so, hehe.

Something evil, I expect!

Whoa...sounds complicated...maybe it's for the best if I don't have a special birth year?

You can never tell with these things. Apparently the Japanese nickname for Al is 'Aru', which is a wordplay as the word also means 'to exist'!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-11 05:53:51 +0000 UTC]

Lol, so I'm evil because I was born in 1984? *pouts* Okay, fine, I'll unleash my evil side then. Muahahahahahahaha!!! Evil enough?

Hehe, and special birth dates and stuff are interesting, but they carry a lot of responsibility, so if you're not prepared to face it, then it's a good thing if you don't have it, hehe. I can tell that whatever fancy numbers I've got, I've certainly gotten loads of responsibilities with them. *snickers* I've already mentioned that 1984 adds up the the Master Number 22. What I didn't mention is that my middle name also adds up to 11, so I've got ANOTHER Master Number to deal with. *snickers* Fun stuff, fun stuff. Funny thing too is that once I got adopted, I got two middle names instead of one. In Numerology, you only count the name you were born with as your primary numbers, but the names you take on in life affect you too. One of these days, I plan to drop the second middle name, and then guess what my full name will add up to? That's right, 11 again, hehe. I guess I'd better be prepared for some extra responsibility to deal with once I do that. That'll be a little while yet before I can get a name change since it costs money and whatnot, but I'm hoping to do it within the next year or two.

Lol, and yeah, I'd heard about that wordplay with Al's name before. That is pretty funny and ironic, lol. And yet she still claims the names were random. *shakes head* I'm still not buying it. Not at all, hehe.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

authoressarktos In reply to Reincarnated-Al [2008-09-11 12:17:29 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'm afraid it's the unavoidable conclusion! You certainly sound evil enough to qualify.

Good luck with that middle name then, I guess. Just remember: you're not a number, you're a human being! (random old sixties TV series reference FTW )

Any decent writer never picks a name at random. You have to make sure the name itself (at least the sound and impression it gives) fits the character and story. It may not always be Deep and Meaningful, but usually there's a reason for choosing it.

...That reminds me, I just started my Philosophy course yesterday and a good chunk of the first part was about the stuff we talked about earlier. Thanks for making my course easier!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Reincarnated-Al In reply to authoressarktos [2008-09-19 01:33:08 +0000 UTC]

Lol, well, I can be evil when I want to be, but it's generally deliberate, not habitual. My evilness is premeditated and calm...which is probably ten thousand times more dangerous. Hehe

And yes, lol, I'm aware I'm not a number, but the numbers are fascinating, are they not? I think they are, anyway, hehe. Then again, I like anything metaphysical. What are all my stories composed of? Very few of them could be labeled as "ordinary" as in only focusing on human emotions, though the occasional one does...and that's generally only a oneshot, hehe. "An Almost Kiss" is probably the only romance fic I'll ever write, hehe, but it was fun, and a total diversion from my norm.

And that's true, no one picks names at random unless they suck at writing, so Hiromu Arakawa was clearly doing more than that, but she wasn't aware of what she was doing. If you were to look up Ed's and Al's names on one of those baby names sites, you'd see connections for sure. Heck, even though I think it's obvious, though it isn't to some, "Roy" means "king". Heh...yeah, I think that fits. *snickers*

Hehe, and I made your Philosophy course easier? Whoo-hoo for me! That means I really HAVE been reading too many philosophical texts. *snickers* Wonder if I could teach the teachers anything yet?

And there you go, I finally responded to one of your dA comments...happy? *laughs*
