Another great snap from Boca Ciega Park. I'm always amazed at the way these birds can effortlessly ride air currents, keeping their wings outstretched for seemingly infinite periods of time. Vultures especially are good at this, as they need to survey the entire ground below for their food; they're mostly scavengers and prefer to find their food rather than catch it. The stomach acids inside a vulture's body are more corrosive than what is inside your car's battery! They can eat foor that even a Snorlax would probably shy away from. Yet they play a very important part in the ecosystem.
