I'm finally doing it! I'm learning digital art!I'm taking a Digital Illustration class this semester. It was pretty rough at first; I absolutely hated the first assignment. However, the second assignment received a much better reaction from me. We had to take a bunch of references of a texture and then try to paint a convincing digital image of that texture. I considered doing bricks, polished concrete, moss, and the all-too-cliche rust, but I eventually landed on cardboard. I love cardboard. I love the texture, the graininess, and above all the smell. Cardboard has such a wonderful earthy and creative smell to me. I grew up constructing houses, instruments, and halloween costumes out of old cardboard boxes.
Anyways, this is actually the first part of the assignment where we had to paint the texture on a micro scale. I'm fairly happy with the end result. I like the buckle in the center and the suggestion of corrugation turned out alright.
