Description
Tatsuo felt as if someone had cranked the notch to the universe’s saturation; everything was vibrant, stark, alive. Just for him. Just for today.

And at the center of it all, there was Artemis. He’d closed the gap before he even noticed he’d started running, no glass pane to stop his fingers from twisting into her hair or his lips from meeting hers. It was a little hard, messy really, but she laughed into it anyway. No phone to mar it with white noise.

One kiss melded into several. When she gently pushed him back to speak, he kissed the side of her mouth, then her nose when she pushed him further.

“Tat, there are children present,” she whispered, but the gleam in her eye never left.

She pulled him in for another kiss-- too brief-- and looked down at her legs.

Tatsuo followed her gaze down to a pair of familiar gray eyes blinking up at him.

Just like he had with Artemis, Tatsuo wasn’t fully aware of when he’d started kneeling. Only that it was slow, careful, as if he’d run the risk of dissolving the dream before him.

He’d seen pictures. Artemis and Lei brought them to him regularly, but he’d treasured each one like his only. Tatsuo had seen him grow up through a flurry of polaroid's and now he was just an arm’s reach away.

Taiga stared up at him, his tiny hands curled around a doll Tatsuo vaguely registered as a miniature Katana. Not afraid, but equally as transfixed on Tatsuo as Tatsuo was on him. Too focused on Tatsuo to move from behind his mother’s legs until Artemis stepped aside, gently herding him forward with a pat to his head.

“Say hi to your daddy, baby.”

“Hi,” said Taiga, his voice was soft and Tatsuo almost had to strain to hear him, but his voice still sent a smile blossoming across his face.

He brushed a knuckle over Taiga’s cheek, then set his hand on the little boy’s shoulder.

“Hello, son.”

so tatsuo never really meets taiga until he gets of of belle reve when he's 29. tai was born about 3 months before tat was officially incarcerated, and even before that he spent about 4 months in jail waiting for his trial in japan, so the only was he saw taiga grow up was thru pictures he was brought. so meeting taiga was one of the best moments of his life
