Past/Bio: Taiga Sumioka was born only months before his father was imprisoned for his past and joined the Suicide Squad. Sadly this meant that for the first four years of his life, Taiga grew up without a father. His mother, Artemis, was more than attentive and loving towards him though, and his godmother, Leiko Ara, and half uncle, Apollo Ito, were highly involved in his upbringing as well. Every so often Artemis and Taiga would visit Tat in Belle Reve, so Taiga was never in the dark about who his father was. Artemis would always tell him that his father was very honorable and loving, filling Taiga’s young mind with stories and dreams about getting to know him. Even when Tatsuo wasn’t there to take care of him, Taiga idolized his father and looked up to him.

  When Tatsuo was released, Taiga was more than excited. To him, Tat was just like everything his mother told him he would be, and soon Taiga found himself wanting to be a hero like his parents, dreaming about following in their footsteps. Artemis wasn’t so keen on the idea, but Tat was more than willing to teach Taiga how to fight and how to be a hero. Growing up, Artemis was forced into training and told she had to learn how to fight or she wouldn’t survive, so teaching her son to fight wasn’t exactly something she was willing to do. After talking it over with Tatsuo, she came to the conclusion that even though she didn’t have a choice, she made her own path and turned her future as a villain into a future as a hero. She knew Taiga was gonna learn how to fight no matter what, and the least she could do was guide him towards the right path. That being decided, on Taiga’s 13th birthday, he was allowed to begin his training.

  It was quickly obvious that Taiga was a natural born fighter, and learned extremely fast and well. It was no surprise to his parents however, and was even allowed a spot on the team at age 15. What was a surprise was he had inherited his father’s metagene very early on. They at first thought it was just ink control and left it at that, focusing on his combat and sword fighting more, but after getting his tiger tattoo for his 18th birthday, he started to manifest abilities a tiger would have. See, every Sumioka developed a different form of their metagene. Tatsuo could manifest tattoos, his grandmother could uncover secrets through painting, and his mother could predict the future through her art, so it was no surprise when Taiga developed his own unique version of his metagene. Afterwards, Taiga continued his training with his parents, and even trained with Katana to further progress his sword fighting skills. Currently he is regarded as a valued member of the team, even though he’s regarded as the resident flirt and bad boy.
