Description
Hmm...I really doubt this hasn't been done before, and I only briefly looked for one like this but found none. That's not to say there isn't already one out there...Anywho
Finally got an emote idea. And now I'm out again.
Should I move the heart?
(c)
*Edit*
Urg you can hardly see the cloud. This pleases me not.
I'll try fixing it later if I get un-lazy enough.
*Edit2*
Darker border on the cloud 8D I think that halped. <3

Well...I'm reluctant to make plz accounts, personally. This is due to many factors, primary among them is that I am a pretty lazy bum.
However, if you'd like to have a plz account made for it, or have someone else do so, I'll make it proper icon size and put it in my scraps so whoever makes the account can just save it and put in the box...just make sure the original is favorited on the account and credited to me.

I'll keep it in mind the next time they do an emoticon legend re-vamp. But I don't know when that'll be. :/

THere is a general "cloud 9" smiley/emote that's been on the internet for years, but it actually has a number 9 on it. [link] Though, I think yours is unique and very cute.

Urgh, this was buried in my message center.
That is very interesting that there was one already in existence--I think it's very pretty! I wish I'd known about it beforehand--though it's probably just as well that I didn't.
I'm glad you like mine, though

Oh, I love yours. It's much different. It could also be used for other things than just "Cloud 9", which the other emote obviously could not.

I was told there was actually one, but not animated nor in this particular style...so I'm glad this one seems "original".
Thank you very much

I think the cloud looks fine myself. As ~books-are-my-life said, it might benefit from being a *little* bigger, but I really like that the emote seems to be kind of sinking into the cloud.
And look! You made an emote that's both cute AND useful

I'm reluctant to make the cloud any bigger. If someone were to use it in a chatroom (heaven forbid) I really don't want it screwing up everyone's text and taking up ridiculous amounts of space. I personally think the cloud's color just needs to be more visible, it blends into the gray background of the site far too easily. I'm glad you like it. And, why, yes I did
I'm very glad I finally got one.
Now I'm out again. *plays with ball until one can be thought up*
Thank you

That's a very good point actually You don't want emoticons to be *too* big
unless that's the idea behind them, like... let's say, [link]
And you're welcome!

AutumnOwl In reply to Kaffles [2010-01-20 02:13:05 +0000 UTC]
yes. There are the Big emotes, and that is the purpose behind them, to be big. then there are emotes done for fun, or practice, that are larger-than-average, like scenes. Then there are the chat-friendly emotes, which should remain as small in overall size as possible. That was what I wanted this one to be.
The small ones are usually the ones most often used in chats and ims. And especially in the chatroom on dA that I usually hang out in, anything ridiculously over the average 15x15 is frowned upon.

Wow, dA's chat is a whole other world from the rest of the site, isn't it? Makes me feel like I've only scratched the surface in the few months I've been here, and only ever will scratch the surface.
And you managed to put the final nail in the coffin of me thinking emoticons are a true art form

AutumnOwl In reply to Kaffles [2010-01-25 23:17:56 +0000 UTC]
depends on which room you go to, the rooms' differences are drastic themselves. If you go in one about...oh, Avatar, it'll be a LOT different than one about literature; and the WeEmote chatroom is probably one of the most respectable, we have some really low-tolerance mods. Which are kind of scary at times, but really useful in keeping the trolls away. c:
And though I've been here four+ years (no, seriously--this is my fifth account) I still don't know everything, still am learning. So don't feel too bad Hooray! I'm so glad you think they are art. There are many people who do not think they should be considered art, but they don't seem to recognize the intricacies, the effort, the time, the vision, etc. that go into those little things. No, they may not be anything like the Mona Lisa, but nor are cartoons, or photomanips, or even photos. So...I'm always glad to hear when someone considers them art. c:

Wow, I knew this wasn't your first account, but five? You've really been through a lot in this crazy, devious world. I'm in the same boat as you, or rather, clinging to the side of that boat: I first discovered deviantART in 2004 and first seriously considered getting an account the following year, but could never work up the nerve to sign up. So I've seen quite a lot of the site - but I've learned that's not the same as experiencing it.
And YES, exactly. A lot of people's definition of art is "painting" or "drawing," when all it takes is a look at a day's Daily Deviations (well, on days when they all deserve it ) to prove that mentality wrong.

AutumnOwl In reply to Kaffles [2010-01-30 04:41:41 +0000 UTC]
Yep, five. To be fair, though, the first one was practically unused. Nothing on it; just used to get rid of those every third page's ad while browsing. lol
But I did notice a lot less lameness back then. And I signed up on another account a year and a half later and was actually active.
I think the real issue in the art world that people so blatantly ignore is the difference between p0rn and artistic nudes. e_e They need to stop whining about these pixels and start looking at the real problems. Just like dA should stop advertising its sales so heavily and concentrate more on the ART THEFT problem...

Kaffles In reply to AutumnOwl [2010-01-30 18:40:00 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it seems like deviantART has gone the way of Neopets: the actual content of the website taking a back seat when they ventured into the world of big business. But unlike Neopets, where I never really fit in and didn't socialise much, I've made way too many friends and learned too much about art to ever even THINK of leaving here unless dA ROYALLY screw me over, and it'd have to be VERY royally
UGH, I couldn't agree more. I'll never understand how people think just because it has fancy lighting, a naked chick photo has more artistic merit than carefully-crafted graphics specifically designed to reflect raw human emotion. ...when you think about it, emotes ARE a pretty "high" art form, especially when you take them as far as dA does
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AutumnOwl In reply to Kaffles [2010-02-13 22:16:55 +0000 UTC]
Stupid big business ruins everything good.
But I agree...I probably wouldn't leave dA. But I'm too lazy in the first place, so it'd have nothing to do with being screwed over.
I can understand artistic nudes if they are actually artistic. Full-body painting? Heck yes, I'll look at that. One would have to appreciate the time and effort taken to paint ALL THAT so precisely on a human body. Whereas anything not like that...seriously...(I wouldn't do this, but) I could just take my clthes off, put on a light in my room with the shades drawn and take a picture. That's not effort. That's not art. e_e people sicken me with those.

Kaffles In reply to AutumnOwl [2010-02-15 22:12:36 +0000 UTC]
UGH, AGREED. As subjective as the artisic merit or lack therof is, I couldn't agree more with the stamp stating that 90% of the Artistic Nude category is porn, and I'm pretty damn sick of dA's apparent "one rack per day in the Daily Deviations" policy.

Well there's adorable, kawaii, loveable, sweet...but we could always use more.
Thank you for the feedback. I wasn't sure if the heart needed to be farther down, more like right next to the emote, or if it was fine where it was.
I'm reluctant to make the cloud bigger. I'll try fixing the color
Thank you!
