This is beautiful! When I looked at this I immediately thought of the wartime cemeteries with the Unknown Soldier graves marked with the white crosses. It added a level of poignancy to my interpretation of your photo, but nevertheless it is a wonderful shot!
It's also featured in my latest Journal (which I'm still assembling at this point!) - hope you don't mind!!

Nice work!
Hint: Everybody looks stupid when doing photography. The point is to get over that and get the shot. (First rule of photography is "GET THE SHOT!")
BTW, love how you didn't spice up the colors like I have a tendency to do myself. Muted colors work better sometimes! Thank you for sharing!

Hehe! OK, but consider this: You can always feel embarrased later. When you're shooting, being self conscious should be turned into the thrill of the chase, so to speak. If it's inhibiting you, you just need to do it more often!
Just today, I grabbed the camera out of the bag just as the subway train was rolling in (why the heck it wasn't around my neck, I don't know - there's no excuse!), got down on one knee and just quickly checked my settings, focused and click, then ran into the waiting subway train. All in all, it probably took about 2,5 seconds. It was a kid of about 8 or 9 with a fedora with the brim up like some cool jazz musician. His mother didn't even react! I know she saw me kneeling, but she remained quiet. The kid never looked at me. A single exposure. And I won't know how the shot turned out for a good while yet!
Point is; I don't have time to care if other people get offended, but I do try not to be a complete ass about it! Anyway, on the rare occation I'm confronted or asked what the heck I think I'm doing, the answer is always street photography and a smile. If they don't know what it is, they're not gonna admit it, and if they do, they're usually OK with it. Besides, I shoot film when I do street, so there is no way to erase the photo short of pulling the whoal roll out, and that's not gonna happen. Ever.

haha thats so cool!
if i saw someone that looked like a photographer and was taking pics, i wouldn't care.
i think my motto is "you'll never see these people again, who cares". and i just suck it up and do it.
so you do film? awesome. no one does anymore. and theres no where to buy it

Hehe! We're getting a bit off topic here, so I'll send you a note!
This is still an awesome shot!
