Description A gift for

Thank you for all the kind words on my pieces. You are an amazing person, and your input is helping me improve in my art! I can't thank you enough for your kind words and advice.
I just made you a quick sketch to say thanks, I don't know how else to show my appreciation. This is the first time I've tried using an airbrush, and I really like the tool! I hope you like it
Thank you!

Excellent drawing. The pencil technique is outstanding and the finished work looks photo realistic.

Very nicely done! I might have made the larger rhinoceros a tone or two darker, to make the smaller pop forward, but it's just fine the way it is.

Thank you! I think if the mother rhino was darker, it would look better. I totally agree!
I might do a re-draw at some point, because I do think the mother needs to be darker.
Thank you for your comment

I don't think you need to redraw the whole piece, but just airbrush, very lightly, the mother.

Back in the early 1970s, when I was playing around with an old Thayer-Chandler airbrush my dad had given me, I used frisket paper, which is a transparent plastic with a sticky backside, that you could use to block the areas of your drawing that you didn't want to color. The tricky part is just cutting the frisket out that you want to remove, and not cut the underlying drawing. One of the other errors I made was over-spraying the targeted area and making it too dark. The only way I learned was to make mistakes back then. On reflection, it is still the way I learn.

The frisket back then was a bit pricey, so in a pinch I used regular kitchen waxed paper and spray adhesive to hold it down.

Wow, that's pretty cool. I'd love to work with some airbrushes, but I don't have the money for a good one yet. Soon...
I'd love to try your technique with the baking paper, I think it's a good idea.
I think mistakes are good, because they teach you a lot. I've made heaps of them, like making my lines too thick. It takes away from the picture, and distracts people from the colours and hard work put into shading and highlights. I still have more to learn, andΒ  lot more mistakes to make.
Thank you for sharing this with me, it's nice to know what other srtists get up to, and I love learning about people.

Thanks! I haven't drawn too many rhinos recently, so I needed a refference. But I'm really happy with the way they turned out

You're too sweet!
RhinosΒ  are indeed beautiful creatures. I usually draw them in my style but I attempt to bring it closer to reality.
