Description Various fish from the Cenomanian Epoch of Haqel, Lebanon.

The large, tall fish in the upper right corner is Pycnosteroides laevispinosus, an extinct relative of the squirrelfish. Because of the preffix "pycnos," I almost thought it was a pycnodont.

The fish in front of P. laevispinosus is a species of the so-called "poison fish," Pharmacichthys venenifer, a genus of superficially tetra-like fish named so for the idea that the enlarged first ray of the dorsal fin may have been attached to a venom-bearing gland.

At bottom is the primitive, boxfish-like tetraodontid Plectocretacicus clarae, which was very close to the ancestry of all tetraodontids, including puffers, sunfish, triggerfish, boxfish, triple-spins, etcetera. Adnan Oktar, ne "Harun Yahya," alleges that it is actually a boxfish, and claims that it disproves evolution. He fails to note the numerous anatomical differences between true boxfish and P. clarae, such as the latter's lack of facial armor (then again, he has pathologically failed to notice the anatomical differences between any fossil he mentions, and their living counterparts).
