Description
These kisses were potent as numbing herbs—a blissful respite, addictive as flying and every bit as dangerous. The next chapter of Crossing the Line. Instead of writing it I went ahead and drew it.
What's more...I listened to Breaking Dawn music as I drew it. And it kind of worked.
But what really matters here is that I drew a kiss and it looks good. Nailed it. Booyah.
I'll give five points to anyone who can tell me where they are.
This is the story that goes with the picture:
Hiccup and Camicazi © Dreamworks
Self-control © Hiccup. Or teenagers for that matter.

ME TOO! Wasn't she the greatest? Astrid really only represents the part of Camicazi that's a competent fighter, but the personality is missing. I want some sassy, brazen, wild bog in my life.
And I just got the newest book so... I'm excited.
It's so great to find other people who love Camicazi and this pairing to boot. So few do. I'll have to draw more of her.

I haveth two words for yous.
KICK ASS.
Oh and it's the place where this conversation takes place:
Astrid: [Referring to Toothless] I bet he's really frightened right now... what are you gonna do about it?
Hiccup: Ehhh... probably something stupid.
Astrid: Good, but you've already done that.
Hiccup: Then something crazy...!
Astrid: That's more like it!
I think?

FALSE! As in 'that is not where this is taking place'...though that would be rather symbolic. We could call it "The Dock of Realizations".
But yes for 'kick ass'

Hot as usual.
So today I picked up the first HTTYD book (I know I"m a bad fan ) and started reading, and the first fews chapters I realized that theres no Astrid with them. (Or Ruffnut as I think of it) So I googled it, and here it seems in the movie Dreamworks replaced sweet ol' Camicazi that I've grown to love through fan fiction on the internet and your drawings, adn replaced her as overly agressive, not charming at all, son of a half-troll Astrid.
That makes me get out my angry eyes. So anyways, this is a fabulous piece, keep drawing because everyone seems to love them... and uh, keep on trucking.

Thank you!
And YAY! You're reading the books! Yes, Astrid and Ruffnut were created for the film-verse only. If anything they split up Camicazi's wild-fun side with her bad-ass/skilled side Why did they give Hiccup that side?
I love that you enjoy Camicazi so much and yet you haven't even read her canon character . It's flattering!
Enjoy the books! I'll be sure to keep drawing these

This is the Changing the Tune chapter? The one, I would guess, where Hiccup realizes that Cami is his most ideal soul mate, and they seal their relationship.
It is a beautiful picture. Cami, as always, is incredibly beautiful and sexy. I always get the impression when I see your pictures of her, that even though Astrid strives to be beautiful and admired, Cami actually IS the most beautiful and desirable woman of the North Atlantic. She knows she's the best, and she's not ashamed of it. She also is Viking royalty, growing up with wealth and the best training, and she knows from her family that she is an aristocrat and has every right to be proud of herself.
I know you haven't written of it in your stories, but I get the impression that, just as Hiccup has so many woman attracted to him, Cami must also have many men attracted to her since men are drawn to the woman who has the best genetics and most influence. This is a royal couple, a destined couple.
I really will be curious how you will manage to end CTL. I still think myself you should have Cami and Hiccup stay together since you've built up to it. I am sure you will pull it off with your amazing writing skills, but if Hiccup and Astrid are to wind up together, it will take some really convincing attitude changes.
Looking at this image, I only would see Hiccup and Cami being together as the only way this story should end. They just are so well meant for each other in this image.
As for where they are, they are in the North Atlantic Islands on Planet Earth located in the Milky Way Galaxy. Probably somewhere around altitude 57 degrees 42m 50s, and longitude -7 degrees 10m 11s.

I'm not sure if it's in Changing Tune. It might be before that. I haven't really separated chapter content very well. That title, however, is directed at politics more than romance. There will be no soul mates and Hiccup and Camicazi will have no illusions of ending up together. Their cultures are too different.
I'm really glad you think the picture is so beautiful and that Camicazi is as well (I think it was how fabulously wild her hair came out ). You seem to think quite highly of her; I'm didn't intend for her to come out that great, but I won't complain
. She certainly knows what she's capable of and feels less like she has to prove herself and more like people just need to recognize how awesome she is.
Part of the tragedy of the story is that it won't have a fairytale ending. Not an unhappy ending, just not roses and sunshine. I went into the story aiming for the realism I didn't get from the movie. Granted I certainly upped the ante by adding book elements, but it was the book that inspired me to expand the universe of the movie. I think once the politics start getting involved the story will lose that "meant to be" vibe. So far it's just been a "Camicazi to the rescue", but one of the most appealing aspects of their relationship is that they aren't together. Not wholly. They don't have to see each other everyday, deal with issues other than their feelings for each other...a whole bunch of things that dampened Hiccup and Astrid.
But it's good that you've already got a preferred pairing, even if the story's hardly written. I'm really flattered by your faith in my that I can switch it all around too.
Haha, good location guess - though not quite the one I'm looking for.

Glad I had a good location guess. Technically it is accurate, but I am not hunting for points, just having a good joke.
Your Cami is magnificent in your artwork. I am actually of two minds about her. Some things about her I admire, but some things I don't like and see as signs that she as some growing up to do, too. That's how a complex character should be.
Well, I think the preferred pairing is more based on how you have written the story so far and your art work. Writing and words should lead people to a certain feeling for characters, and you have given a very strong argument for these two being very happy together.
I think, myself, I personally have no feel on pairings in HTTYD-dom since I would like to see the characters all grow a bit more in their intellect and maturity before they start getting deeply involved in physical and emotional relationships. A strong point of a relationship should be trust and that people don't have to be together all the time to justify their feelings for one another. Then it gets into possession, which terrifies me and has sent me running from a few relationships I've been in.
Also, the fairytale ending can be very boring. This is a time period when the notion of romantic love did not exist. People married for other reasons, but sometimes they did grow to develop a deep love for each other, especially if they were compatible. Sometimes they did not, and they sought romance with lovers, though that has its own consequences. I do like to have characters gain satisfaction emotionally in a relationship even if it is not one that is romantically perfect.

Wow, seriously, you have brightened my night calling Cami magnificent. It's good you can see the flaws in Camicazi's character as well. In the books she has this single-minded wistfulness and her own expectations for Heroes that are rather juvenile. In fact, in the latest books she, as well as the readers, are both a bit shocked to find how much of a Hero she's realized she views Hiccup as.
My arguments for the pairing is only outwardly voiced in my A/Ns for pictures, but that you can pick up on it through the story and visuals is quite astounding. Fantastic, actually. I agree about the pairing situation wholeheartedly. It's obvious none of the canon pairings are ready for a relationship, which is why I prefer to hold off on any of that until their older and put through a few more trials. I find possession terrifying as well. Permanence too is a bit of a horrifying concept. Humans just aren't monogamous by nature!
I agree about fairytale endings being boring. The time period and its notions of relationships will (and should) influence the characters view of their relationships, even if modern readers can't quite understand it. The 'growing into love' is something to be reserved for Hiccup and Astrid and hopefully will read out smoothly as it develops.

just a question-- does the name Camicazi have anythign to do with her personality? Cuz there's an owl city song called Kamikaze-- and it's very upbeat-- 'OH COMET COME DOWN!! my midnight melody!!' and I think of Cami every time. And then I heard BBC Sherlock use 'Kamikaze' to describe an agressive/wild attack or string of murders
so, just curious
