A sketch I owed *inhonoredglory for coloring this:She wanted Hiccup and Toothless boring out over something in their sequel designs with (if I so chose) something book-related. I loved the sketch so much I decided to splash some more color on it.
Story behind this
I imagine that (possibly hopefully) in the next movie Toothless will accidentally break one of the horns on Hiccup's breast hat, but Hiccup decides that he kind of likes it better that way. It's uneven, like he is, and like Toothless is. It fits them now.

Oooh this is awesomeness!! I love it! Hiccup's face is so precious, with such a winning smile and excellent expressions. Toothless looks adorable. It's perfect!
Oh my and I totally dig the idea of Toothless nipping off one of those helmet horns! I just love book allusions. 
But I really can't get over how Hiccup's face and hair is just so perf.

I also love book allusions, especially when they're cleverly incorporated into the movie!verse, like how in Gem of a Different Color Fishlegs was singing about how Meatlug is cuter and smarter than a Seaslug. And Seaslug is Dogsbreath the Duhbrain's Gronkle. So in RoB Fishlegs was saying that HIS Gronkle was cuter than Dogsbreath.

At first I didn't like the look either! I'm still not sold on the clothing, but Hiccup himself is getting better and better the more I draw him.
Yes, Fishlegs-making-poetry has me all SORTs of excited and, if I were to be honest, I'm kind of hoping they're setting up to make a movie!version of Tantrum, but possibly one Fishlegs has a chance with.

Yes! Astrid's cape rocks. I still think that the actual look is going to differ from the board we have to follow from. Animated, there's going to be so much more detail, so I think it's going to look better!

Awesome Hiccup and Toothless moment, given that Toothless rescued that helmet in the Christmas special. The breast hat has gone through a LOT.
