Description Left to right: Garik, Lund, and Roan ... Hiccupsons!

Okay, admit it... they had some damn good looking kids.

I am amazed with how the features came out. I really think we can see a little of each parent in them. Garik and Roan both have Astrid's eyes, Garik and Lund have her face shape, and Roan and Lund have her ears.

So this is all three of the Haddock children grown (for the most part). After Hiccup married Astrid they had Garik. Two years later they had Roan. Years and years later Astrid was surprised to find herself pregnant again - no one was expecting a late baby. But then Lund popped up.

Garik is rather even-tempered. He's got snark but he's a generally fair person and takes after his father in manner.
Roan does really take after Stoick - it didn't come out overtly obvious here but he is broad shouldered and stocky. Garik is a little taller than him but leaner. Garik and Roan have stubble right now, but I did debate on whether to give them facial hair or not.

Roan and Alivia probably look and act the most alike - both competitive and active. It could be that ginger gene. Stoick doesn't like to play favorites but...

Lund is the baby and far younger than his siblings. He's used to getting what he wants through fast talking or sweet talking. All three have more confidence than Hiccup had growing up and having Astrid as a mother is a good way for them to build up that self-importance. Hiccup's there to keep it from getting out of control

I will likely never write about Roan or Lund--they just won't make it into the timeline I'll write about--but I thought I would design them now while I'm forming the story.

Haha really!? The forgotten child is requested! Well I do have a couple other pics of him floating around in my gallery, but I'll have to doodle him more too

wow... the textures you use are cool! i like that look! Suggestion... what if you use the 'warp' tool or a ransform tool to bend the textures?

AvannaK In reply to gooniegal [2012-07-30 00:57:55 +0000 UTC]

OO! That's a great idea! The next time I use textures I'll definitely try that (I never thought of that before!). Or maybe I'll dust this piece off and try it on Roan. I can see how the chain-mail on his arm looks a little weird.

Now I know what the 'warp' too is (I think) but I'm not sure what ransform tool is. I'll have to ask around to figure it out.

Thanks so much for the suggestion!

BTW .... you're hiar on these guys are next to freaking awesome! i can't do do hair to save my life... i basically make it simple and call it quits. ahah.
I don't know if i spelt it ransform... if i did i'm sorry! I meant Transform** i guess it depends on what program you use.

Thank you! I really do enjoy doing hair - it's one of my favorite things to do.

Oh! Transform! Haha, yes, okay, that makes more sense now. I use photoshop elements, so I'm sure there's something on there I can use to make this more realistic.

I LOVE PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS!! unfortunatly I only get it at work... my home PC has like a half demo thing of it so I get like basic brushes... no textures or styles or patterns... i mean like BASICS... kinda sucks. But i get by. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Oh really? That's cool. All the recessive genes went into this little mistake; Lund is a bit of a Hiccup, so to speak

lol
Ethan's a bit of a practical joker and VERY trouble prone and his twin sister erika has to constantly rescue him.

with them i split up Astrid and Hiccup's traits then tossed in Stoick's stubbonress.

Oooh, really you like him? Most people say they like Garik (prolly because of the dimples) or Roan (because he's like a young Stoick). Lund is the baby But it's great that he has a fan!

I do not role-play actually, because I don't know how to ):

Alright! well... first of all. I'm gonna be gone for 2 hours, so I won't be able to teach you know, so if you have google, would you mind going there and typing roleplay? Or how to roleplay, or what is roleplay? And I'm guessing you'll learn all you need to, and you can ask me any questions you might have when I get back.

(also, they look great!)

AvannaK In reply to DarkestWish [2011-11-02 14:05:03 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! It depends which story you're talking about. If it's the one I've only got a couple pieces out in the public about then... yes! If it's Hitchups then no. story is done and over, but my canon stuff is just kicking off (which is what this is from).

AvannaK In reply to DarkestWish [2011-11-02 15:35:41 +0000 UTC]

Well thanks. It's not anti-Astrid per se; Hiccup still marries her (as told by the kids above). I just wanted to make their relationship feel more plausible by bringing some realistic twists into their future.

DarkestWish In reply to AvannaK [2011-11-02 16:33:42 +0000 UTC]

Haha yeah, I figured you couldn't be a full on character basher or hater if you gave them such attractive children But I've never read the books, so characters from there have trouble 'grabbing' me. But no, I enjoyed reading that.

halfnote [2011-10-29 16:46:28 +0000 UTC]

Damn is right, lol. I love how you actually thought about their appearances. What really bothers me about some 'hypothetical spawn' is that sometimes they look nothing like their parents! I definitely see both Hiccup and Astrid in their children, some more than the other, but I love it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AvannaK In reply to halfnote [2011-10-29 22:32:17 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes! It's either complete strangers or mini Hiccup/mini Astrid clones. I focused on individual features to repeat in their design because I wanted people to be able to look at them and know whose kids they are without losing their individuality, you know? I also wanted different parents to dominate in different kids, like we see with real people. I think that's what made this so much fun!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

halfnote In reply to AvannaK [2011-10-30 00:24:52 +0000 UTC]

Your logic is just like mine! YES! It's so true how in real families, you can see different parts of the parents in each kid but they all have their own little spunk. I love these kids so much more!

AvannaK In reply to halfnote [2011-10-30 01:27:06 +0000 UTC]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AvannaK In reply to spidermaster14 [2011-11-01 00:33:07 +0000 UTC]

That's something I don't understand. I've take so many biology and genetics classes. Just because Hiccup isn't stuffed with fat and muscle doesn't make him less masculine. It's like the thing with the beard - some people think Hiccup would be incapable of growing a beard, that he's more feminine for being shorter and less bulky than other males his age. Logically it makes no sense. Hiccup has good breeding on both sides, just because he didn't get the "size" lottery doesn't mean he got every horrible gene in the gene code. By all means, he should be just as fertile as any other male.

Even if he has sex with his wife even once a month its possible to have three children. It's medieval era - they didn't have solid birth control.

spidermaster14 In reply to AvannaK [2011-11-02 02:17:34 +0000 UTC]

I'm afraid that now we're lapsing into the land of the subconscious. Back when us humans were mere primates lalopping o'er the land, we had no clue about genes, or masculinity. All that we males knew, was that females with big hips were good at bearing children, and that every other male who was big and bulky enough, was a threat to our having that female. The small males could be smashed at will (due to the lack of law, morals, etc. In a (relatively) modern society it is still within the subconscious to assume that small nonbulky males, don't get to mate, simply because that's how it was for millions of years.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AvannaK In reply to spidermaster14 [2011-11-02 03:18:06 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, that is true subconsciously, though if we followed our subconscious more often I think we'd be better off in a lot of cases. These days intelligence and money-management seem to make more desirable partners; it's all about providing and we tend need more protection financially than physically.

Hiccup finding a wife in the first place would have been a problem following that logic, but don't forget that he was in line to be chief, which was basically his safety net. Once he crossed that hurdle physically having the children wouldn't be an issue. Well, you know what I mean.
