Description
Name: Aveza DerynBorn: May 6, 1795; York, Upper Canada
Died: July 21, 1870; Toronto, Ontario (age 75)
Allegiance: Assassins
Bio: Aveza was born in British Canada to a father of English origin named George Deryn and his Shawnee wife Shikoba. Aveza grew up with an average and joyful childhood, being tutored by her parents and spending the rest of her time playing with her friends around town. But unfortunately, this blissful time in her life came to an abrupt end in 1806, when her father was arrested for an accused murder of a political official and hung from the gallows. Aveza's mother grabbed her and fled town after witnessing the horrific event, and they travelled all the way to Massachusetts. Their destination was the Davenport Homestead, home of a man that Aveza would come to know as Connor. Connor and Shikoba sat the little girl down and told her a truth that would change her life forever: her parents and Connor were members of an ancient Brothers known as the Assassins, a group dedicated to defending humanity and freewill from their enemies: the Templars. Aveza was given the choice to join and follow in her father's footsteps, and she readily agreed.
One of Aveza's earliest missions was in 1811, when she was sent to New York to spy on Templar Grand Master Shay Cormac's plans. She learned that the Templars were attacking the Assassin flagship, the Aquila, while it was docked in a local port. She rushed to help, and together with an Assassin named Arnold Bellamy, they rescued the ship and set a course back to the Homestead. Aveza and Arnold went on to become inseparable friends, and would often share their missions as time went on. Their next endeavor together came in November 1811, when they were sent to the Native settlement of Prophetstown to aid the town's Assassin leaders, Tecumseh and Tenskwatawa. Tenskwatawa sent Aveza and Arnold to aid his warriors in their campaign against the Templar William Henry Harrison, a mission which ended up turning into the disastrous Battle of Tippecanoe. Tecumseh returned from a recruitment mission shortly after, and lashed out at Tenskwatawa for disobeying his orders and getting Prophetstown burnt to the ground. After Tenskwatawa was sent away and Tecumseh calmed down, he led Aveza and Arnold to a Precursor site they had discovered nearby, and asked them to help him find the key before the Templars did, a mission they accepted.
In 1812, Aveza was sent to kill the Templar Vice President George Clinton, who had been tasked with convincing James Madison to declare war on Great Britain in order to forward Templar plans. Although her assassination was successful, the war still came to the continent, and thus the Assassins were forced to shift gears. Though agents from both orders were on both sides of the conflict, the Assassins mainly put their support in the British and their Native allies. Aveza found herself at many battles over the next few years. She killed the Templars Porter Hanks at the Siege of Detroit, Isaac Brock at the Battle of Queenston Heights, Zebulon Pike at the Burning of York, and William Dudley during the Siege of Fort Meigs. She also set sail with her friends aboard the Aquila to try and kill the Templar Oliver Hazard Perry at the Battle of Lake Erie, and even though she failed in that regard, she did kill another naval officer named James Lawrence shortly after. Then a major tragedy struck at the Battle of the Thames, when the Assassins’ British allies abandoned them and Tecumseh was shot dead by the Templars. The heartbroken Aveza tried to retaliate, only to be knocked out and dragged away from the carnage by Arnold.
Aveza remained unconscious at the Homestead for a long while after that, and when she awoke, she swore to seek vengeance on William Henry Harrison. She traveled to his home in North Bend, Ohio, where she witnessed Shay Cormac excommunicating Harrison for his genocidal crimes. Harrison lashed out and ran away when Aveza broke in, and Aveza managed to see him teaming up with fellow corrupt Templar Andrew Jackson in their scheme to overthrow Cormac. Aveza ended up clashing against Jackson himself at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend in 1814. Then after aiding the British at the Burning of Washington, and killing the Templar William Williams at the Bombardment of Fort McHenry, she traveled to New York. Williams has informed her that Cormac wanted to meet with her, and she reluctantly agreed. The two settled down in Shay’s home, where he gave her the key to the Temple at Prophetstown in order to keep it out of the hands of the corrupted Templars. Aveza was thrilled and thankful, but had to make a quick escape when Andrew Jackson attacked the house. Shay sacrificed himself to let her escape, but unfortunately the key fell into Jackson's hands a few months later when he burnt the Davenport Homestead to the ground. Aveza then reclaimed it at the Battle of New Orleans, and after one last fight against Harrison and Jackson, she entered the Temple and received a strange message from the Precursor Gabriel. She left the Temple and found that Jackson and Harrison had stolen the key and limped away with their tails between their legs. She swore to get it back.
As the War of 1812 ended, Aveza returned to focusing on other matters. She helped establish a new Assassin headquarters in the newly founded city of Indianapolis in 1821, married Arnold in Montreal in 1822, and had her first child, Connie, in 1823, followed later by her other daughter Charlotte in 1826. In 1828, she was brought a new recruit named Jackson McCride, son of one of the Assassins she worked with during the war, and she agreed to train him. By 1831, Aveza was the official Mentor of the Canadian Assassins, and one of her first acts as Mentor was to have a journalist named Ludger Duvernay rescued from prison and recruited to fight against the Templars who had taken the form of the Château Clique. In 1833, she took on an apprentice from Indiana named Priscilla Abbott, who's family had been hit hard by the policies of the now President Andrew Jackson. The two became inseparable and practically family, and once Aveza killed William Henry Harrison in 1841 and Andrew Jackson in 1845, she entrusted Priscilla with the key to the Precursor Temple that she had taken off of Jackson's body.
By 1848, the American Assassins were mainly seeking influence in the reform movements that were spreading across the nation. It was during this era that Priscilla had accidentally lost the key to the Templars and vowed to get it back. After a long endeavor, Aveza and Priscilla, and a rogue Templar named Cudgel Cormac, cornered the Grand Master John C. Calhoun in the Temple in 1850 and killed him, taking the key from his body and hiding it away. Political tensions a decade down the line led to the American Civil War, which Aveza helped out with when she could. Once things were finally peaceful in both the US and Canada, Aveza began to settle down. She had become bedridden in her home in Toronto by 1870, and her family came to visit her in her final days. Aveza died peacefully while holding her granddaughter Evelyn's hand and telling her how proud she was of the budding young scientist.
Aveza is an ancestor of Ava Arlie.

Jackson is rather hard to kill. He beat his assailant in 1835 so hard they had to pull him off. He dueled with Charles Dickenson and had a bullet mere inches from his heart, which he'd live with for the rest of his life
