“So this is what it's all been building up to. The countless millennia of wars and hidden messages and ancient artifacts all leading up to this final showdown between Heaven and Hell. This is what we've sacrificed so much for. This is what my dad died for. It's finally time that we go up against the Devil himself. God I feel so unprepared… which is odd, given how much we've all been through to make it this far. Heck, I've only got one more task on my hands. I just need to find the weapon I'll use in this fight, and all that's gonna take is a trip in the Animus again. One of my ancestors, Evelyn Arlie, held the Scythe used to slay Lucifer in the first place. She spent her whole life toiling through the Bone Wars to find it and hide it where only I would be able to find it. She put up with Marsh and Cope’s bull for so long just so that she could save the day. She put her love of science up against the harshest obstacle it could've faced just to be able to keep that Scythe out of anyone's hands but mine. It's only a matter of finding it. But still… there's this pit in my stomach every time I think about the day we have it and we're up against Lucifer. It just… I don't know… it worries me. We can't fail this mission. The world is at stake and it's up to us—to me and Ruby and Ben, to Carter and Chelsea, Jess, and Jacob—to stop it from being destroyed. My name is Ava Arlie. I am an Assassin like my father before me. And this is the end of our road.”

I cannot believe we actually made it this far XD I never thought this would become such a massive story. I never thought Project Thunderbird would come this far. When I first wrote “Lost” three years ago (Holy crap I've been working on this for three years - @), I never even knew I was gonna take it in this direction. I literally just sat in bed one day and said “imma write my own Assassin's Creed fanfic” and I crapped out this short little 5 chapter story set in Roanoke XD I mean I considered doing more little short stories like that continuing the adventures of Ava and/or Kahente, but I never thought it would become this. “Resilience” was never meant to be anything big either. It was just vent art at first. But then I starting thinking “wouldn't it be cool if I had this big storyline with an epic climax and everything like an Avengers type deal?” And then I dropped little hints about the Armor of Gabriel and then I put that little Prophetstown easter egg at the end and thought “yeah, that'd be really cool.” But again, I didn't think I'd ever go anywhere with it. Then I wrote “Anthem”, then came “Nothing Less”, which is when Jacob came in and started co-writing with me. And it was then that I realized “Oh god… I'm actually doing it. This is actually gonna be a big thing” and once that realization sunk in, I was determined to see it through to the end. I refused to be one of those writers who starts a story and then never finishes it. And now here we are, at the end of the road, the seventh and final major story in this fanfiction series.

Okay enough of the gushy emotional look-back XD Let's talk about the story itself now.

As always, I gotta start by thanking Jacob ( ) for being my co-writer once again for the modern day. These stories wouldn't be the same without his contributions and his character. Thanks so much for sticking with me on this, man ^^ You're the best.

And now… “Extinction”. The final story in this whole arch. Ava's out of her coma, the team has the Key to Gabriel's Temple, Dusk has escaped the clutches of Lucifer and Sheol, and now it's a race against time to armor up in order to fight Lucifer and bring him down once and for all. The only thing Ava's missing from her arsenal now is the Scythe of Michael, the Piece of Eden used to bring down the Devil in the first place. In order to find it, Ava has to take one last dive into the Animus. She has to explore the memories of her ancestor, Evelyn Arlie, Aveza’s granddaughter and paleontologist extraordinaire. Her story is set during the Bone Wars of the late 1800s, and she finds everything she values being threatened by the rivalry between Edward Cope and Othniel Marsh. Nonetheless, the two scientists are each being manipulated by the Assassins and Templars to see who can find the Scythe of Michael first and determine the fate of all existence. Will she be able to recover it before the Templars do and make sure it falls into Ava's hands? Will this long road end in a heroic victory for the army of Heaven, or a maniacal destruction brought on by the forces of Hell?
