Description Species: Flora Colossus
Planet: Planet X
Description: Broot is a humanoid tree with super dense, wooden skin.  Like his genetic donor, Groot, Broot is only able to speak three words due to his wooden vocal cords, “I am Broot.”  He wears the Ultimatrix symbol on his chest.
Powers: Broot is a tree-like being capable of extending and morphing his body.  He is very strong and durable.  He is capable of regrowing his entire body from a single twig, and sprout super sharp twigs from his body for added defense or power.  He can also release bioluminescent spores from his body to see in the dark.

I forgot about the bioluminescent spores, by the way. Nice touch!

Is making Groot into a Ben 10 alien becoming the new Making Cthulhu into a Ben 10 Alien Even Though Vilgax is Already So Similar in Design But Not In The Concept of an Existential Horror Which is Never Utilized in Popular Media Anyways (TM)?

I just noticed Ben's Groot form becoming a trend after Guardians of the Galaxy and it's kind of an alien that has the same powers as an already existing alien in the Ben 10 universe(s): Wildvine.
A lot of fan made aliens like kjmarch's Suckermouth and the seemingly ubiquitous Squidhead have done something similar: make Ben an alien that looks like Cthulhu, even though Vilgax is so much like it already. Even when they produce a more faithful design, the powers are always something like shrinking or flying and underwater travel instead of something based off of the soul-crushing existential horror that Cthulhu originally was meant to represent. I know these are all just light-hearted drawings based off of a television show, but it's kind of exhausting to never see Cthulhu or its derivatives used in what could very well be a thought-provoking manner, and the Ben 10 fans in is a victim -- no, a SYMPTOM of that.
Groot... well, he's Groot. He's a big plant monster that says his own name, but that's the only reason we all love him so much. We love him because he's a big, loveable oaf with eyes naively open to the innocence of the universe. When you put another person's mind in the same husk, it's just not the same.
Both are examples of not using the original source material to its full potential, even when the aforesaid source material is so rich in content.
I'm most likely taking this to an extreme, through. People deserve to be able to create for the benefit of themselves and of others, and if wanna make Groot an Omnitrix alien, that's your very own way of doing it and I most certainly couldn't live with myself if I ever tried to stop you. I just want it to be known that there's more to these stories than what's on the surface.
