It would so answer how that whole thing got started in the first place.
The real Spike is in such a key postion of trust, yet always overlooked by everyone, that replacing him, seems like the perfect plane.
He would be able to montor every communication, come and go from the castle on "offical busness" with none suspecting, and mess up any plane to harm his real Queen from the inside.
Pluse if push came to shove, he could take out one or all of the 6 one way or the other.
