Chasing in (and around) my town on June 28th.This Roll Cloud passed right over top of us. One of my best shots ever! DAMN YOU POWER LINES!!!!

I know what you mean about the power lines. I have many shots of them. They are in direct view when I take shots of the mountains. I have pictures of roll clouds from the other day too! I was so upset when they started putting up the power lines that I didn't know what to do. There was not anything I could do... Can't stop progress, as they say... You captured a nice shot of the roll cloud., power lines or not!

I know what you mean. It can be a pain to get a great shot down in the area where I live, without there being power lines/pole in the shot.

It's hard to get a landscape shot without power lines. It's the same with great sights in cities - there's always a crane around to screw up a scenic shot

This reminds me of the rolling clouds in the movie Independence Day, just before the alien ships appear over the world's cities.
What sort of weather creates this formation? Tornadoes I understand but this here is new to me.
