With the quarantine, I have spent some time playing games I haven't visited in a long time. One of those games was Life is Strange. I had played it a long time ago, even had a lioness design made for Chloe, but I hadn't thought about it again. This go around, I saw Chloe in a new light. Sure Chloe is a girl who has a few bad habits...drug usage, smoking, and underage drinking to name a few. But I also saw a girl who was hurting. A girl who has lost...and feels like she's being dealt blow after blow. A girl who deeply craves closeness...but seems to push it away. A girl who feels rejected and misunderstood by those she loves. A girl who feels emotions deeply and has no one to turn to to process them. A girl who is desperately lonely...but feels she only has herself to blame since she feels like she screws up every relationship she touches. A girl who pushes people away and won't open up for fear of them abandoning her. A girl who feels like she's an outsider.

But I saw another side of her too. She feels deeply so she, therefore, loves deeply too and with every fiber of her being. She is fiercely loyal and puts those she loves above all else. She wouldn't think twice to sacrifice herself to protect those she loved. And I realized in replaying these games...that Chloe was very much like me. And that inspired this piece.

Fun fact: Chloe's background was inspired by Arcadia Bay and Avi's background is inspired by the town I live in
