Description
This is my contribution to this celtic deities contest fromAfter looking around a while I found this 'father of all'.
He is a main god of the 'Tuatha de danann', the people of Danu in Ireland.
But as often in celtic mythologie, there are more aspects of every god. And this one has these magic attributes which are shown here. The idea was to show him behind the aspects he stands for.So I came to the three shields and the nice shaped gap between. In my imagination the face was deeper but I couldn't carve there a face.
Some words about the items
The cauldron 'Undry' is bottomless for his peolpe. Of course my cauldron is filled with squash soup and designed with heavy rings to make it undestructable.
The Club can slain 9 warrioors at one time. With the handle Dagda can give back live. That's cool!
Finally the harp which is made out of oak by Dagda himself. He also can play some special songs. The first is 'geantrai' - the song of the youth - and people feel happy if they listen. The second is 'goltrai' - the song of the age - and people start to moan. When he plays 'geantrai' - the song of death - people fall asleep. He even used this in war.
This pit is quite big:nearly 2 inches high and 1.5 wide. I worked approx. 15 hours on this.

It's amazing, from the ancient, timeless feel of the design and smooth surfaces to the elegant asymmetrical composition....

Good morning Ireland!
Yes, I think I will offer it for sale when I have the feeling that it's finished. I'm not in love with it yet and just posted because of the deadline.
Now I'm curious what happens in the contest.
I have a real chance cause you didn't take part

Thanks a lot, Tom. I had so much more in mind, but I didn't find the time. I planned to write the different names of Dagda on the border of the pit. The shields should be fixed at the border by rings or something like that. But I won't moan (just learned this word - I'm quite satisfied with it.
regards!
Marcus
