Oh my goodness, this took much longer to get out than it should have.This is the start of a project I hope to continue with involving my own series of comics (probably) involving Sonic. Pretty much the whole reason I'm doing this is to satisfy my own hypothetical musing of "What would I do with the Sonic series if I had the opportunity to make a spinoff or reboot?" How would I redesign characters, change backstories, tweak personalities, and make my own plots for the series to revolve around outside of the usual Sonic universe. It's something I've thought about a lot for a long time, and now I really want to do it, mostly to help me develop my writing and comic-making skills, and also to develop the habits needed to work on long-term projects for when I eventually start working on my own original series.Β
It's going to take some time to get used to drawing Sonic characters again, however, this is just the first of a lot of character sheets I will be making. It definitely won't be the last of Sonic as I adjust his design to really fit with the series as it develops it's own style and mood. Right now I've kind of got a classic look going, with just a few element like the blue arms that I personally liked from his Sonic Boom design. In the end I hope I can get something that's a good blend of his classic and modern looks.

I love the idea of Sonic being short and chubby [makes him look more hedgehogy] although I do find the blue arms overwhelming. It just seems like too much of the same color [especially considering hedgehog's arms are not the same color as their quills/upper fur, anyways] But it's not too bad a distraction, I won't rage over it liks some people XD

[chub Sonic is best Sonic] I see what you mean about the arms thing. The skin tone arms do break up the colors a bit more. *shrug* Idk I just like the blue design : P Maybe I'll find some other design element to equalize things, otherwise I may have to go back to the skin tone.

I've also dreamt of making a Sonic reboot, of Underground of course... but like many projects, I put off doing anything about them because I don't think my skills are good enough.... I feel sort of challenged by you having the balls to go ahead and do it before I can Β

Sometimes the best way to get good at something is to do it. My kinda thinking behind doing this series: even if I finish it and it didn't come out the way I wanted, or there are a lot of parts I didn't draw well, or I should have written it differently, etc., at least I will have had the experience of making a big project from start-to-finish. Then, I'll be able to make better decisions next time and make a slightly less terrible thing, then a pretty ok thing, then a pretty good thing, and so on. If I want to remake it, now I have all this material I built up myself to reference from and change.Β

das true... but >.< I have like 5 different comic ideas for Sonic I wanna do but I can't even start writing one yet... I procrastinate I guess... some are fun, which I could do now with my cute style, but a couple are... seriously dark and messed up. I'm sorta waiting for my style to find a more serious path (and to find a manga program I can use well on my tablet)Β
