Description I've moved to Chrysopoeia on Furaffinity!

Lavender and Icebow, whose mane is now darker because blahblahfickleness. The lighter colour was okay and all, but I think it works better like this.

Took way longer to do something with this than it should've.. and it's still not exactly what I had in mind originally. Shrug.

Also yes, I am in fact alive.

Absolutely amazing.

If you don't mind me asking, where/how did you learn to do this? Draw, I mean. How long did it take? I'm currently trying to find classes or programs, but I go to a 3D animation and film school, and no other art schools are near me. This is way out of my league. What would you recommend I do?

Thanks, and that's actually a really good question! I'm not sure how to answer efficiently, though, but I'll do my best.

Anyway, most will probably tell you to practise drawing stuff you see, or studying tutorials, or stuff like that, and those probably the best ways.. But personally, I feel like heavy use of references is sorta cheating, and I lack the focus for orderly stuff like that besides; mostly I just experiment until I find something I like, and refine from there. It ends up making things take forever when I'm not sure what to do with them β€” this one took hours of fiddling with lines and shapes (I must've redone the entire thing over 30 times), spread thinly across four months β€” but once I figure out something nice, it gets easier and faster to refine it and use it.Β It's not as detailled because I was trying to see how fast I could do it,Β but this one for example only took about an hour to line and shade plus whatever time I spent a few months ago doodling the sketch I partially re-used for the pose.

As for how long it's taken me to get to where I am? I'd say almost all of it has been from the last six months of more-devoted tinkering, with only a very shaky foundation from doodling over the last couple of years.Β Illustration-wise I've had no formal education, but such things are probably not worth it from what I've seen others say about it and my own experience with things of that nature; creative classes/programmes like that tend to drill certain methods and approaches into your head and leave little room to do your own thing, plus they're crazy expensive. I'm sorry to not be of more help, but good luck!

I see you've still got some of the best expressions out there, love the colors as well!

Thank you! Heh, still need to practise with non-smile expressions though.

No problem I'm just glad to see some work from you, either I've been missing submissions or you've been gone a while. You're one of my favorite artists on here.Β

That comment means a lot, actually; I've been in a funk for a while (again), and motivation has been hard to come by.. I'll try to be more active! ^^

Don't feel bad, I haven't even picked up a pencil in months. I lost interest in drawing all together. I got into auto mechanics and the rest was history. I do hope to see more from you though.
