Years before she went to England, back in her village in Anxi province. She didn't have red hair then. She was the local belle with a horde of admirers. There was always a load of love letters and gifts and whatnot at her doorstep. Despite the adulation and admiration though, the men were afraid of her - they'd seen her beat a mix of male and female fighters in their annual local village festival, some much larger than her. On a school excursion to Shanghai she was spotted by a talent agent from the city's Fighting Maids branch and soon the rest was history. Her parents were reluctant for her to leave the village to work in the city but she knew this was the path out of poverty for her family.
