Let me make something clear. If you don't like something YOU HAVE THE CHOICE TO IGNORE THE DAMN THING. Talking trash isn't going to help, making fun of it won't make it go away, it'll only make YOU and people who agree with you feel better. There is nothing wrong with this.
What is wrong is crusading against it like its some sort of infectious pathogen that's going to spread across the internet and convert you into shipping the things you hate. You don't like the things I do? You have your own opinion, I can't stop you, and I appreciate that you like something different, otherwise the world would get boring really fast.
Seriously people, I know six year olds who are more mature that you, and I'm not exaggerating. Stop it. Grow up. Enjoy what you like, ignore what you don't. And if you can't ignore it, fine, crack a joke, make fun of the character, pairing, fandom or whatnot, but please don't encourage everyone to "Join the protest against

Well, thing is, when people all around you keep talking about something you don't like or even hate then you will obviously not be able to ignore it after sometime.
I mean, I HATE Lady Gaga's music but I wouldn't say much about her to other people, but when every friggin' person I knew kept talking about her over and over you can imagine I eventually wanted to rant about it to some like-minded person. You know, just to get it off my chest.
Or they might hate something because the person did something to offend them on a personal level, like they attacked their religion or something.
Although I do agree I hate it when people act rude to other people they disagree with that never did anything to them. I mean, it's not like they're even wanting to debate about it in a respectful way, but just go " U sux!!11!!!!!1".
Anyway, it's easy to say someone should ignore something, but everyone has their limits.

This is less promoting tolerance as just an opionion about all the Anti groups out there. Its one thing to not like someone or something, but another thing entirely to form an anti union like you really think you can make someone hate something as much as you do. I'm not a fan of Twilight, but I'm almost as sick of Anti-twilight stuff as I am of twilight itself, and the fact that there are multiple Anti-Twilight groups is enough to drive me nuts.
Its obnoxious. I have friends, good friends who have different opinions on things but we don't get into fights trying to convert each other one way or another.
So you say you hate Lady Gaga, but are you going to join an Anti-Gaga rally and try to bully her out of existence? Yes? No? There really is a line that shouldn't be cross that I think a lot of Anti-groups or a single person. That specific person I mentioned literally said these things:
"So, I propose that all of you go out and stop this madness!"
"Protest the sickening, wrong pairing! >8D"
"Because only you can prevent the disease."
Do you see what I mean? Its going a little too far to call something you don't like a disease and calling to arms against it.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I haven't answered you in a couple of days, but we just had an earthquake and aftershock so I haven't really gotten on the computer much. (Plus there was Halloween)
Anyway, no you were clear now that I re-read it.
Yeah, there are a couple of anti-groups that are actually very respectful to the people who don't like the group, or it's actually a joke and not meant to be taken seriously, but most of them are just a bunch of a-holes.

I love this stamp. Lucky (or rather so far) no one has knocked on me about my written subject matter; but seeing the flaming that happens from feuds over generally accepted pairings make me nervous at times since mine is very crack.
...Then I shoot down said nerves down with a rocket launcher and JD, and then just keep on truckin'. I mean fighting over imaginary characters and whose with said imaginary characters...it's just so silly to me.
Maybe this is why I just can't get into the mindset of an anti group. They seem to exist to pat each other on the back in mutual hate - spending even more time talking stuff about the very thing they hate. Like I dislike the RE movies, but why would I want to be in a group that even with hate sends me RE movie themed things?

And then there just gets to be a point where someone takes it a bit to far, and even if I hate a certain character/pairing/fandom, it just is insulting to read or look at a bashing of it because the bash is so hurtful. It kinda makes me sick.

It's like with all the Twilight hate. I mean don't get me wrong I found it a bit cruddy but I don't go read stuff I know I'll hate or made deviations about it (hell I've read stuff anyway in fandoms I may be meh about and been amazed at what people can come up with). I'd still be in the end promoting said work I hate.
That and some of them just end up bashing the people that do like it. Making things like this pits people into 'for' or 'against' - dividing people. I though people on dA wanted to be a community; this doesn't cater to that idea. I'd like to think I'm more than just my favorite fandoms and likes anyway.
I also think that if my work is 'ruining *your* (oh really?) fandom' then you're too weak to even be apart of it if a simple 'deviation from the norm' ruins it for you.

I thought so too, but then there's all these 'antichararacter' and 'charactersupport' clubs. Personally I can deal with the support clubs for the less liked characters, I generally do like a lot of characters that are really unloved so its nice to know there are other people who like them leading to that community feeling I thought DA had.

I mean, I don't like Twilight and alot of things most people like, I joke about it but I never try to force anyone to dislike it with me. Sometimes if people ask why I dislike it I tell them but that's it.
It's hard for someone like me who loves the most bizzare and strange parings to post up pictures cause I'm afraid I'm going to become a laughing stock or have some nutcase freak out and troll me because I don't agree with them. >>; Oh well, I guess I shouldn't really care what others think.
