A crappy photo of my first try to make Mochitalia. Neither the photo nor the mochi were made with great effort. ^^"I'll make proper ones soon.

I know, but I still like it applied to Nations ... Because they don't really have any special quality, I mean, they're exactly like humans but they don't die...
Well, they do die ... I think I developed my own theory about that.
I hope that Himaruya will clarify that better one day, though.

I think they do die. Granpas Rome and Germania were in Heaven, weren't they? Maybe if their time is really, irrevocalby gone, they dissappear. (But with the chance to go back on Earth, as Rome showed us. ^^) But if Germany is Holy Rome, maybe that was because it was a slow transformation of some kind and the German States had been sort of dominant (in German, Holy Rome's full name is Heiliges RΓΆmisches Reich Deutscher Nation, the last two words roughly translated meaning 'of German Nation'), maybe sometimes they just 'transform'. (Holy Roman Empire evolves to Germany! He has learned: Muscles, Pervy Magazines, Wurst, Correct Detecting of peoples' sex. XD)
Yup, let's see what Himaruya says about that. Maybe he doesn't have a theory himself.

I think that they die when there is no human left who still feel part of the Nation they represent.
In fact, no one nowadays feel part of the old Roman Empire or Germania, that's why they disappeared.
Uhm, I'm still not 100% sure that Germany and Holy Rome are the same person ... Maybe Holy Rome did die, but when young Germany was born, he had messed past memories that were owned by HRE ... So they're technically two different persons, but share the same history and memories ...?
I don't know, it's the only thing I can think of :/
It may explain why he doesn't know that Chibitalia and Italy are the same person ... Because having HRE's memory, he has still the feeling to have loved a girl, but he doesn't remember her appearance.
But well, the 'transform' thing you mention may be right as well, Prussia also 'transformed' from Teutonic Knights to Prussia...
