Description once there was a boy
and the boy had all that he needed
he laughed and played
and sang and danced
and he was happy
but one day the boy saw a balloon
and the balloon was soo beautiful
so the boy caught the balloon
the boy had never seen a ballon so great
and the boy played with the balloon
he laughed and sang to it
he told secrets that no one ever knew to the balloon
and he fell in love with the balloon
but the boy knew...
he could not keep the balloon
he was not allowed...
to play with them
to look at them
to love them...
so the boy kept the ballon a secret for a long time
the boy grew to love the balloon more and more
more than he had ever loved before
and even when he was apart from the ballon
he could only think of that balloon
and how much he loved it
but then one day
the boys parents found out about the balloon
and they told him
that he could not have it
they told him he wasnt allowed
that he wasnt ready for balloons yet
that he couldnt love it
so they took it from him
they took his precious balloon
and they said that they would neveer give it back
they told of balloons later in life
they told him... many things...
but the boy didnt care
and the boy was sad
for his beautiful balloon... was gone
and he watched everso intently
as it floated away
up, up, up
high in the air
he loved that balloon soo much
he wanted it, and nothing else
he last focus on everything but that balloon
and the boy grew sadder and sadder...
and the boy's parents saw this
they saw that he had lost focus from everything
that he only cared for the ballon
and wished with all his heart
that it was with him
for just once more
they saw that it had grown too important to him
so they told him to focus on their things
and made him look away fromt he balloon
they blocked his view of it
and they covered his ears
so that he could not see, nor hear the balloon
and the boy was sad
the boy was so very sad
and the boy screamed
and he yelled
and he kicked
and pushed
and did everything he could
everything to try and make it better
and the boy cried
and cried
oh how the little boy cried
he hoped and prayed
and wished and plead
that the balloon was still with him
he wished it followed his
that it was always there
to comfort him
he wanted to see the balloon
to be with it
even if it wasnt till he was allowed to
and so the boy waited
and the boy was sad
and to this day
the boy waits
he dreams every night of his beloved balloon
he says aloud each night,
"goodnight my dearest balloon.
i love you."
and he cries...
           oh how he cries...
and the boy is sad
and waits
alone...

Neil Gaiman has a book called, "Smoke and Mirrors." It is a collection of short stories and poems.

The poems, as it were, are of a very unusual nature, in some ways. A lot of them read like stories, like this one, in a way. I would suggest the dA categories poems/stories, or even poems/children as I feel you have "The Little Prince" aspect going there with this one.

And that image you attached is nice. How about a title on it though? Just a thot.

I'm working on ideas to create "covers" of a sort, for prose and poems, versus just the standard markers being used. One thing that still hits me about this kind of prose/poem marker is it still looks like an image (my poet friends, some of them, will not use images, for just that reason; as they feel the visual artists here get ENOUGH attention. Heh. I understand their point. But I also go blind staring at grey gravemarkers that cannot be distinguished from one another, at a glance.)

This piece needs a tiny, tiny bit of tightened, towards the end. And you might check a tad for typos.

Me like. Do more. Thanks.

Funny, I just reread this comment. Yer right. Heh. I wasn't even thinking about it. I just spoke what, to me, is the truth.

Weird, huh? *grin* You keep on, keepin' on, okay? Don't get so blue that it stops you, dig? USE it, don't let it fade from your nimble touch.

Thanks.

Awe, this is very sweet, but I feel so bad for the boy. I love The Giving Tree.
