Isn't that 10th Street just south of Filbert?
It's been so long since I lived there, I can't really remember. I wouldn't be surprised if the construction barrels were there the last time I was.

Absolutely. Philadelphia was the only place in the U.S.A. that felt like home immediately. I had good friends and lots of success.
I didn't eat so much in China Town because a lot of the restaurants American-ized their food, but shopping at the grocery store on Arch St. always yielded something good and I'd usually end up on South St. afterwards or down at Penn's Landing, if there was some music thingee.

Not the biggest city in the states but there is still always something going on if you know where to look.

It hasn't been the biggest city for a long time, nor a national capitol.
I'd never been to Roxborough/Manayunk because it was the yuppie area, but a singer/songwriter friend of mine from the Los Angeles area played somewhere in that area once.
I always liked the food in Philly, whether you were slummin' it or you had big money. I gotta say that the best Chinese food I got in the city was from a truck that worked the UPenn and Drexel campus area. They had a huge line because they cooked the food fresh in front of you.

Philly is definitely a culinary city. The food defines Philly culture in every way. The cheese steaks, the pretzels, the fried chicken.

Hmm...outside of Popeyes, I never had fried chicken there. Mostly, I ate Asian food. Upper Darby has an H-Mart now, which has some good and inexpensive Korean food, plus Bona Cucina is a good Italian restaurant in the township. There is a good Japanese restaurant just off City Line Avenue.
