Description Leander and Sarah looked up at the same time from their phones as they met each other's eyes hesitantly.

"Um-" Sarah started, not sure how to sum up the information she had just processed through. "I-I think we better head back." Sarah choked out a laugh even though she was beginning to feel very uneasy.

"I agree," Lee said slowly as he glanced at her in the corner of her eye and saw the long list of text messages she had received. He quickly shifted out of park and they left the diner.

It would take at least a half hour to get back to the house. Sarah looked at her phone uneasily.

-it was almost 5 a.m.

They were headed out onto the highway, both a little nervous.

"Well I guess I'm dead," Sarah laughed to herself and Lee after she responded to all of her friend's messages, although they could very well be passed out somewhere. "It was cool hanging out with you, though."

Lee flicked his gaze to Sarah for a second. "Pancakes aren't much of a last dinner, are they?"

"Worth it," Sarah whispered with a smile in the corner of her lips as she looked at the passing lights.

She still had her plan to ask for his number, or at least offer hers up since they still seemed to be getting along so well even after she had accused him of being a serial killer only a few hours now.

It was kind of funny, though.

The sun would be coming up soon, but all the highway roads were still incredibly dark.

Sarah looked over at Lee, turning her body in his direction as she tucked one leg underneath her on the seat.

He was a great guy who fit her specific likes and seemed to like her back too, she'd have to be nuts not to grab him up right then and there.

-metaphorically of course-

Sarah hoped he didn't have a girlfriend, he didn't seem the like the two timing sort, but she had proven time and again that she was bad at guessing people's motives.

"So is college like it is in all those 80's movies?" Sarah asked out of nowhere, trying to distract herself.

Lee raised an eyebrow and glanced over at her for a second as a few cars passed by them.

"Oh yah, there's clicks all over the place, jocks, geeks, goths, it's just like a sitcom." Lee grinned, playing on her dumb question. "I'm in computer engineering so you can guess what that means."

"Do the jocks shove you into lockers?" She asked, tracing a circle over the skin of her leg.

"Pffft," Lee made the sarcastic noise, clicking on his blinker as he checked over his shoulder, "I'd like to see them try."

Sarah pursed her lips as an uncontrollable smile tried to fill her face.

They were in the city limits now and not too far from Alex's house. A bit of a worried feeling rose up in her chest as Sarah played with the hem of her dress.

"So... how far away is your university?" Sarah asked a bit quieter than her usual voice.

Lee looked over her, as if he was a bit surprised either by the tone or her question, "It's a bit of a drive, but I make the trip home about every two weeks."

Sarah smiled bitter sweetly because she was feeling a little silly about herself. She couldn't imagine being without her mom for so long. They had skyped for a month when she was in east Canada, but Sarah had been feeling a little sick towards to end of the trip.

"That is a bit of a long time," Sarah said to herself, increasingly playing with her fingers as she thumbed her ankle.

The car suddenly stopped and Sarah realized they had made it to Alex's house. It was late and she doubted that anyone was still awake. It might just be them until sunrise.

Sarah got out of the large vehicle as she looked around and shut the door behind her. Lee appeared from around the side of the truck, giving her a purposeful, curious look..

"You know, it's nearly 5 a.m. and I'm not even tired." Sarah smiled warmly at Lee as they walked side by side back to Alex's front yard, "this was really fun."

"Well, I'm glad I didn't go psycho killer on you, then." Lee smiled back down at her, his thumb hooked back over his belt and into his side while they walked.

"Yah-" Sarah giggled to herself, a light airy feeling tickling her face despite the silence they had just both endured in the car.

Suddenly more aware than ever that summer was going to pass and this moment wouldn't last, her back stiffened.

They were about a few feet from the front. This was her chance, now or never. Sarah smiled and pushed the hair from her face as she walked beside Lee.

"I- well, uh- do you wanna... grab a coffee... next week...?"

Cliche, yes, excellent. My cliches brings all the boys to the yard.

Sarah cringed inwardly and was going to wait until he said something so as not to look too desperate or anything, but a flashlight suddenly shined right in her face and both Sarah and Lee flinched back.

"What the HELL!" A high pitched, feminine voice shrieked out in the night. Sarah winced and glanced in Jeanine's direction as her three friends plus Skye and Alex walked up to them, tired expression on all their faces except the ones that were angry.

"Sarah! WHAT THE HELL!?" Jeanine yelled again although Karen put her hand on the girl's shoulder to calm her down.

"I'm sorry..." Sarah whispered, still clutching to Lee's jacket which was still draped over her shoulders.

Jeanine just gave her friend a frustrated look and growled out in exasperation before stepping back as Kelsey came forward, not glaring at her, but Leander instead.

"I put a tracker on her phone," Kelsey said a little too defiantly, her eyes making direct contact with Lee's, who stood a good foot and a half taller, even when she was in her heels. "Case you tried anything-"

He held up both his hands in surrender and nodded his head. "Wasn't even thinking about it." He smiled across his shoulder at Sarah who blushed and nodded her head.

"We just went out for pancakes-"

Now probably wouldn't be the best time to mention the incident in the forest, her ankle or going outside the town limits.

"He's still a friend of mine," Alex said with a serious face as he faced Kelsey, crossing his arms in front of his muscular chest.

"Yah well Sarah's MY friend and he just carted her off without telling anybody-" Kelsey shot back as she gave Alex a glare she wasn't afraid of reflecting back.

"Well on the upside it's good to know I wouldn't have gotten away with murder-" Lee joked softly to Sarah as the group was getting into a small discussion, now ignoring the two late comers.

"Yah, I would hope you'd rot-" Sarah said as she smiled weakly at Lee. His eyes closed tightly and a loud laugh burst out from him before he cut it short as Lee put a hand to the side of his stomach and it let out a deep groan.

"AH- it hurts to laugh," he moaned with a smaller chuckle.

Sarah went a deeper red as she looked looked at his hands pressing a little into his belly, the shirt already stretched fairly far over his protruding abdomen.

Before she stared too long Sarah looked up and met Lee's gaze.

"It's kinda late-" Lee began to pull back as he took a step towards the street."Ha-I should probably be getting home, Victoria's probably freaking out by now-"

Alex suddenly joined the conversation as Sarah watched on the sidelong in surprise. "Tell the little monster I'm surprised she hasn't been assasinated yet," Alex said as he shook his head.

"You and me both-" Lee grinned as he seemed set on leaving the party.

Sarah's eyes widened and her mouth fell open slightly but she didn't know what to say. If she didn't ask for his number right now she'd never have another chance. He probably hadn't heard the thing about grabbing coffee.

"Oh wait- Lee," Skye was the one to speak up when Sarah failed as she gestured to group outside-" Everyone's invited to our trip to the beach at Lake Louis, it'll be like a BBQ thing."

"Oh... yah-" Alex said as he rubbed the back of his head, "you should come down with us- since you're still alive an' all-"

Lee nodded his head guiltily, "I did deserve that-"

Sarah's eye lightened up in hope.

Taking the large sports coat off her shoulders, Sarah handed it back to Lee and smiled at him warmly, although a bit nervous, "you should come-" Sarah said this time as Lee grabbed onto the jacket, a shocked look on his face.

"I guess I have to now," Leander said slowly as he grinned back at her and threw the jacket over his broad shoulder and hooked his finger back over the jean's waist band.
