Description
**NOTE** PLZ View full for best detailThis was taken right after I took "Away from the phone." [link]
My dog woke up from the noise of the shutter on my cam.
It was a realy tough choice but I thought it looked better in b/w...
***UPDATE*** Alot of ppl have been asking me about how I got the sharpness in the Image and how I got the lighting..... to answer these questions I put together a tutorial on how I shot the image

Technically perfect I can see you are very skilled. This one sort of feels like a thousand shots of dogs I've seen before though. I'm sorry I guess I just feel its missing something but well done anyway on the really good shot.

gorgeous photo...the lighting is beautiful, it seems really
natural, making a lovely atmosphere for the photo. the
sharpness is flawless, the detail and texture is very sharp.
i love that it is sepia rather than black and white as it
adds a really nice warmth to the photo, which is needed
to give it that homely feel. plus you dog is really cute which
always helps

Such a sweet little face! I love the way this shot is lit, and agree that the sepia toning is very effective. I much prefer this shot to the one just before it, mostly because of the catchlights and the eye contact.

I absolutly love the exposure, how did you manage to get the all black background? along with just enough light without blurring the picture?

Thanx for your kind coment
For the black background... I shot this in a fully lit room with the light coming in on the dog from behind and above through a window, The couch back was a dark green and the daylight never hit it because if the sharp angle at wich the light enterd the window.
Basicly...If there is not much light reflecting off your background and allot reflecting off the subject, then the camara wont, or will have a hard time, seeing the dark background. The trick is to get all the light on your subject in a way that none of it strays and bounces off the background and into the lens of your cam. I spot mesured the exposure on the dogs head and then adjusted the shutter speed so that I would only get the dogs head and non of the background. And if you cant help but get some reflections from the background, thats what photoshop is for right?
Oh, and as for not bluring the shot, I had the cam sitting on a coffe table about 3 feet away.
Hope some of that made sence/helped. If you have any other questions im allway happy to answer them.

Such a wonderful shot - the full view is really required to see all the details
I love the tones and overall composition, but the only thing I don't like that much is the lack of light on left bottom corner... It might have been a personal choice of yours, but this is just my opinion
Keep up the good work!
