very cool...how do you upload animations in deviant?
π: 0 β©: 1
avrilnisbeth In reply to scotcampbell [2015-02-17 20:14:56 +0000 UTC]
You select the animated gif that you want to upload. Its going to ask for a preview image so look for an image of the gif that you use (jepeg) and your gif will appear on the screen. It will start to move after it is uploaded in the gallery.

This is good to know - whether I was succeeding at keeping my lines in tact before or not, I wasn't keeping it in mind. I will in the future! Thanks Thredd c:

i think - i am not sure-
i didn't write what i meant very well -Β
so i must clear this up
just in case ...
when i wrote
"great gesture use lines still in tact"
i meant
"great gesture use - as in very free gesture = very awesome, as inΒ
great use of gesture --
and yet your lines =form - are still in tact = awesome "
i am sorry!
i do not know why iΒ didn't communicate that better - i must have been tired!
i was loving your picture and i fav'd it i think for that [those 2] specific reason.
!!!
be well.

π: 0 β©: 1
Axazel In reply to originalcoldplayer [2013-11-10 01:50:30 +0000 UTC]
This animation was created in Photoshop, using many layers to make parts of a whole gesture. Sometimes I put the pictures together in Photoshop (for shorter animations such as this) and at other times I'll compile them in Aftereffects.
A good book to start learning animation foundations is "The Animators Survival Kit" by Richard Williams.Β www.amazon.com/The-Animators-Sβ¦
You should go for it!

The Animators Survival Kit is a REALLY good starter book in terms of animation: www.amazon.com/The-Animators-S⦠. I also have "Idea's for the Animated Short" which is great in terms of creating thoughtful characters in short stories: www.amazon.com/Ideas-Animated-⦠Another good read is "The Illusion of Life": www.amazon.com/The-ILLUSION-OF⦠.  Not really a how to, but helps to wrap your mind around movement.
Other than reading and just tinkering, I suggest watching many kinds of animation! Try and copy scenes you like. Storyboard out your favorite movies to see what choices they make in terms of gestures and environment. And most important - love what you're making! Even if it's taking forever to make, if you love what you're doing someone else will love it too c:

Errors? I can't see any because the frames are going so fast. Which is a great thing to me because I really do love fast and fluid creations like this!
The only nit pick I have, friend, is that ovalar thing bouncing at her neck.. That's sometype of enlarged hood right? Or maybe a sack? lls idk. ButΒ it's a lovely base. Certainly. ~*

Axazel In reply to Avelita [2013-07-25 01:28:18 +0000 UTC]
Ah! Thank you for your observation! The oval is meant to be a backpack; but it doesn't seem to be adding to the image as of yet, does it? It has been a while since I've looked at this myself, so now would be a really good time to finish this. If there are any further suggestions you have let me know on this or the next draft. I really appreciate your help!Β Β

I'm trying to learn how to animate, but I don't really know what are some good programs or whatever. The worse thing is that I can only get the free ones. So perhaps you know what might help me?
π: 0 β©: 1
Axazel In reply to OtakuXFreak [2013-04-27 22:55:13 +0000 UTC]
My honest advice for you, if you can't afford a program such as Photoshop and you terribly want to learn 2D animation, is to start traditionally. Get a payne of glass and cover it with paper or a quarter inch white sheet of plastic and put a light beneath it - a homemade light table! Use note cards to begin, they're cheap and working small means working faster (you will be able to practice more). When you've finished drawing something, you can flip through them like a flip book to see what you've done right and wrong. Replace or add cards as needed until you like what you've made! You can scan them and digitally trace them anytime later. You can do this until you can afford a good program, or at least until someone can suggest a proper free one. If you MUST have a digital program... I -think- I remember using GIMP once upon a time. Worth looking into??
I wish you the best of luck with your venture! Please keep me posted if you find something that works and what you've made c:

OtakuXFreak In reply to Axazel [2013-04-29 15:38:06 +0000 UTC]
Oh! I remember I did that before, but I didn't do it on the computer afterwards, well, 'cause we don't have a scanner xD. But that seems like great idea! Oh and I have GIMP, need to check if I can animate on that >.<
Anyways thanks a lot for the help! I'll be sure to tell you if I find a free program :3

WhitePsych5 [2012-12-04 00:19:53 +0000 UTC]
It's a solid run animation, however I'm not sure if its the sketchiness of the animation, but I'm having a bit of difficulty imagining how the cycle would be planted in the environment/background. I suggest testing this by positioning the frames so that the subject would be running across the camera instead of in a fixed position. I've found mistakes in some of my own walk/run cycles that way.
π: 0 β©: 1
Axazel In reply to WhitePsych5 [2012-12-04 01:12:25 +0000 UTC]
It's a parcial 3/4 view, so in most cases the 'camera' would track the subject.
I could still have the subject run across, just to get that edge in. It would be a great way to truly test the solidarity of the movements.
Thank you so much for the advice!

BrianLadouceur [2012-11-30 17:36:55 +0000 UTC]
So far this looks great. One thing to consider is that the placement of the two arms going forward has them both stopping and occupying roughly the same area of space. Displacing one of them may help for a better illusion of movement. Though this might be fixed by the inbetweens.
