Description
Remember that dream project I was talking about long ago? Want a peek? This is for an antology book that gets together 14 artists and 14 writers, with the purpose or reinventing, twisting, or doing something to 14 Jules Verne's stories, then doing six page comics about them... we're celebrating the centenary of Verne.
The book should be ready in about a month, and appear the first weekend of december at the International Book Fair of Guadalajara, supposedly the third largest book fair in the world... fingers crossed.
In the meantime, a local writer called Cesar Gomez crafted a truyly demented story based on two Verne's tales: The Helix Island, and Maese Zachary (I think that's the translation, apologize if not), about a mathematical city, and a craftmanship who creates wonderful robots... I jumped when I got the script, I thought it was taylor made for me.
This was an odd project... I only had about two weeks for finishing the eight pages (our story needed to be longer), and had to do the pencils, inks, color and lettering... the book will be printed in two inks to give it an ancient look, and that was alien territory to me. I wish I had more time to do this, but anyway, that's how things are in this tropical country
This looks quite different from my usual stuff, I guess. I didn't usually play with panel shapes, but in this page we're telling about a society that works like a swiss clock thanks to the robots, so I felt the cog-like panels fit... I might continue doing these tricks in the future.
Hope you like it...

Your work is awesome. I find it really immersive. I see the story lines behind your wooden robots as pre-victorian steam punk contraptions.
Tres Cool

Do you ever do any roleplaying. There is a game called Eberron where you can played a creation called a warforged. I don't game but the artwork on the covers is great and you concepts would work perfectly for that genre I'm sure.

Is it bad screen resolution ruining my ability to read it, or is the first equation there rather obvious gibberish?

Have you ever watched the anime Bleach before? The long nailed white hair guy looks a lot like Captain Juushiro Ukitate, the 13th Captain of the Gotei 13. And he's almost always sick and in bed with a mysterious disease, so it fits!

I really like how you protrayed the robots. They look so patient, and even happy to do their "friend"'s work for them. I especially like the one on the uppermost right hand corner, he seems so peaceful there, really contrast to his master, who's stressfully writing down mathematical equations. It really is something! You do amazing things with traditional and digital, as I can see with this picture too. It's really beautiful, good luck in the book fair as well!

It does look different: but I like it.
The designs are pretty-pretty good.
The one in the middle right reminds me vaguely of something I planned on trying to design one day: it was a type of maid for a way-station for extraplaner travelers. Except it was more clockwork and bronze than mysterious anchient tech.. and there might be a few fundamental changes to the design: but not much probably.
