Description
So, here we go...I'm a creature of ritual and tradition, and my most important ritual is the beggining of the yearly portfolio... I've almost posted all of my stock of the past year, and I thought it would be a good idea stretch the artistic muscles from now on... I'm supossed to have a good collection to show for july the 19th, and I might as well start now...
So, this is the first one: all pen and dry brush work. Maybe I won't use this approach in the following pieces, depends on how it works once it's colored. I spent a couple of hours with a dinosaur book to get the functional anatomy right...
And yes, the basilisk is a rooster with snake tail, but what the heck...

Hey, it looks really cool! I like the mood you capture there, and that's a nice almost monochromatic palette... the creature looks really menacing and is quite believable. I think you could improve the pose of the girl, it's not clear if she's falling, or if she's bending backwards, or whatever... maybe you could add some touches of other colors, green or red, maybe, in plants or something, to give contrast to the scene... the composition works like a charm. Try some reference for the clouds... and I'm waiting for the finished piece

I was thinking almost exactly the same as you, the colors and the girl's pose... I tried adding some red to the toungue, but came out looking like a bitch
