Description

            Suddenly the ground began to rumble as an earthquake began overtaking the city. People screamed covering their heads as they ran for cover. Axl and Shane continued standing where they were staggering to remain on their feet.

            “Holy crap!” cried Shane, fear in his voice.

            Beams of blue lightning began to erupt from the vortex, striking various places of the city.

            “We’ve gotta take cover, Shane!” frantically shouted Axl. Joined by Shane, the two fearful rock stars began fleeing through the park, searching for any form of cover. Axl’s gaze remained fixated on the city streets ahead perceiving the buildings as their only means of escape from the chaos taking place around them. Strobe like explosions were still occurring from the lightning storm throughout the city. Like Shane, he knew time was of the essence as every moment they remained under the deadly sky, was another moment they were at risk from becoming a fried lizard and wolf.

            Axl felt Shane grab him by the arm. “Head for that bakery!” Shane shouted, pointing toward a nearby building. With a quick nod, Axl joined Shane and ran across the street.

            With an exploding flash of light, the two felt a painful surge of electrical course through their bodies driving them both to cry in pain. As though being fired from a cannon the two were launched from the ground each losing consciousness upon the impact of a hard concrete landing.

            ****

            Nine figures now stood in the disaster ridden streets completely alien in appearance. From their orange reptilian bodies to their long beaks, they were physically unlike any creature ever seen in the United Animal Kingdom. Covering their large bulging eyes were some form of goggles, while the rest of their bodies were dressed in various bright colored shirts and pants. Once having recovered from the initial shock of the unusual lightning storm they had found themselves in, their stern faced leader stepped forward from the rubble, eying the unfamiliar surroundings. He heard the grunting and groaning of his comrades as they slowly began joining him in standing. They were in a city of some sort, but the place was completely unrecognizable to his eyes. A few burning wrecked vehicles were scattered about the streets as well as two bodies. They were burly shirtless men, one being a lizard and the other a wolf. They were lying unconscious among the rubble or maybe even dead. Either way, he did not care. All he wanted was an explanation for their current predicament.

            His attention was particularly drawn to the white and blue shirted man he looked to for answers. His bomb loving second in command man, Cartwright Cook, was still lying on the ground appearing dazed from the incident.

            “Cartwrighhht!” he called out in his commanding voice. Cartwright coughed as he immediately stood to attention.

            “Yes, Commander Parker!” he rasped.

            “Where the heck are we?” shouted Cartwright motioning with his hands to their surroundings.
            Cartwright scratched his brow, in confusion. “Uhh, in a city, I guess?”

            “What city, Cartwright?” snapped Parker, losing his patience.

            “Not any I’ve seen!” exclaimed Pinkston Cockenzie, his pink and purple shirted, Scottish speaking sabotage agent. “We are certainly not in Monserrat.”

            Parker stroked his chin as he paced while struggling to make sense of the situation. “Hmm. . . The last thing I remember is us making our escape from the asylum through the sewage pipe during that crazy lightning storm. And then. . .”

            “And then this giant purple thingy in the sky appeared during the storm and swallowed us up!” chimed in his gray buttoned shirt wearing delivery man, known as Tommy Tillis.

            “Yeah! Yeah!” replied Leslie Cottam, the weapons smith of the Wild Bunch. He was donning his trademark green, black, and yellow striped shirt. “And then there was that painful shock that went through our bodies!”

            Parker clapped his hands together, garnering the attention of his men. “I’ve got it! We’ve been pulled into some alternate dimension somehow! Just like in those movies, yah know?”

            “Oooh!” cheerfully exclaimed Eaton Rockland, the red faced, white, blue, and yellow shirted wild bunch member. “A whole new dimension you say? This could be lot’s of fun!”

            “A whole new world to torture!” cackled Birchill Crawford, breaking a nearby glass window with a metal bar.

            “A whole new world to blow up!” grinned Cartwright tossing an explosive into one of the buildings. Flames and smoke erupted from the doors and windows.

            “A whole new world to vandalize with my graffiti!” chuckled yellow faced, Emile, La Foch, removing a spray paint can from his white and black striped shirt. He proceeded to spray paint a W and a B for Wild Bunch.

            Parker sinisterly grinned as he gazed at the large buildings in front of him. “A whole new world to conquer!”

            Wailing sirens could be heard approaching form the distance. Although everything was unrecognizable to Parker in this new dimension, he knew the unmistakable sound of a siren could only mean the authorities were alerted to their presence. Sure enough, patrol cars with flashing lights barreled down the road coming to a complete stop upon reaching them. A large burly bulldog officer got out of his patrol car holding a megaphone as officers in bullet proof vests began taking aim with guns in their direction. “Freeze!” he shouted through the megaphone. “Get down on the ground and identify yourselves!”

            “Hello, people!” he cheerfully announced. “I suppose it’s time we properly introduce ourselves to this new world! I am Dudley Parker and these are my companions! You can call us. . . THE WILD BUNCH!” Several of the Wild Bunch members began shooting their guns in the air causing the citizens to begin fleeing in panic.

            “Screams of fear is music to my ears!” cackled Parker before tossing a bomb onto one of the patrol cars, consuming it in flames. Fire, smoke and debris erupted driving the officers to duck for cover.

            The bulldog officer coughed as he attempted to speak. “That does it! Open fire!”

            The Wild Bunch engaged in battle with the officers, using everything from explosives, to military grade weapons. Cartwright fired a bazooka at another patrol car exploding it in flames.

            Emile had already begun spray painting his graffiti all over the city doors and windows even going so far as to chasing fearful bystanders. “Time to give this city a makeover!” he said with a cackle.

Nightriders: A Piece of the Action (Pt 1) (SAMPLE)“At last!”
Lonnie Leo threw himself onto one of the swivel chairs that sat in the Nightriders’ recording studio. The band had been recording new material for an upcoming album and Rolf had had them recording for the past few months. Thankfully, they had just finished recording their final track and they were now entitled to some rest.
Axl Reigns, Rolf Steiner, Brutus Crocker, Iggy Stiles and Selena Drexx exited the recording booth and all took a seat in the other swivel chairs alongside Lonnie. All except Rolf, who chose to stand.
“Okay, good job guys.” Rolf said, crossing his arms. “We’re done now.”
“It’s about time.” Lonnie replied. “Don’t get me wrong, I love this job, but you’ve been working us to the bone, Rolf!”
“Yeah, but you can’t deny it was worth it; this is sure to be a best-seller.”
After a short moment of silence, Axl spoke.
