Oh yeah. Teostra's in particular are amazing because his armor has a skill called "Mind's Eye" Which means you no longer bounce off of hard shells. And all his weapons have Blast element, which basically means if you hit something enough times, it'll EXPLODE! It does massive damage, and is in my opinion, the most powerful element in the game. Even after they nerfed in 3U, When it was called Slime, and it actually weakened a monster's defences and resistances. The new Blast weapons are... Well... A blast XD

Although for many of the Teo weapons, you need to first find a Weathered weapon by mining, and then get like 100 or so Earth Crystals (no, I'm not over exaggerating) to get it where you could make a Teo weapon. The only exception to the rule is his Charge Blade, the Heavy Bowgun, and the Bow. Trust me, though, it's worth it to get one of them.

The real elder dragon fights usually happen around the end of High-Rank. Dah'ren and Kirin can be fought around the end of Low-Rank, and there's the single-player final boss, which again, I won't spoil.

Probobly Kirin when you unlock it. Next would be Dah'ren.

Hmm. Kinda sorta. I never used the armor. Although the Dah'Ren charge blade did help me out when I was fighting Teostra, since he's weak to water, and I didn't have a good Dragon-element weapon at the time.

What's the fun if you just know everything. Sometimes, it's best to just ram your head into it until you start to figure stuff out. That's how I did it. Besides, you're no where close to fighting him, so I wouldn't worry about it quite yet. If I remember correctly, you're still stick on your first Urgent, fighting a Ketcha Watcha.

goldeneagle1337 In reply to blackgeno [2015-05-15 01:57:06 +0000 UTC]

Oh, and at this point in the game, you should always wear a full set. Gets you all the skills that way.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blackgeno In reply to goldeneagle1337 [2015-05-15 02:30:35 +0000 UTC]

really? so if i wear a full set armor i get some sort of skill?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goldeneagle1337 In reply to blackgeno [2015-05-15 02:43:18 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. For example, wearing a full Jaggi set gives you 2 skills. One which halves the time of being stunned (Where you can't move and you have the little stars flying around your head) And one that speeds up your time sharpening. While a full Velociprey armor set gives you the Half Stun skill, as well as a skill that boosts your attack power. It also has some skill points in a skill called Psychic, although not enough to give you a skill. If you use that armor, you can add Decorations to possibly get the first Psychic skill.

However, some armors do have negative skill points. For example, the Jaggi armor set has -6 in Lasting Power, which would lower the effectiveness of your healing items, although you need 10 points, positive or negative, to get a skill.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goldeneagle1337 In reply to blackgeno [2015-05-15 04:13:51 +0000 UTC]

That depends on what armor it is. You can see what skill points a piece of armor has by pressing L or R when in the crafting menu, or when looking at armor from your equipment box. And if you hit Y, you can look at the Skill Details screen, where you get a graph of all your skill points. hit Y again, to get a description of a skill, and see how many points you need for a skill.

Oh? you were asking about Ketcha? I thought you wanted to know the weakness of the final boss. You should have specified that one a bit more.

Anyways, you should upgrade your armor to Jaggi or Velociprey. It'll stand up a bit better to it's attack. And if you really want it's weakness, it's weak to fire. Although I think the only fire weapon you have access to is the Yian Kut-Ku Great Sword, the Chick Decapitator. Although your weapon shouldn't matter too much, so long as it's upgraded as far as you can at this point. Just get a bit better armor, and try it again.

okay and where can i get jaggi or velociprey armor? really? so i need a weapon that has the fire element? and where do i find this yian kut-ku great sword? and do i have to gather items so i can be prepare to face enemies?

goldeneagle1337 In reply to blackgeno [2015-05-15 02:58:13 +0000 UTC]

Ah. That means it's Enraged. Monster can get Enraged when they take enough damage. It'll move faster, do more damage, and some other effects. For example, when the Ketcha covers it's head with it's ear, it head becomes harder, and it's not immune to Flash and Sonic Bombs untill it's rage subsides (BTW, if ya didn't know, you can throw a Sonic Bomb at it while it's hanging from the vines to knock it back down to the ground when it;s ears are open) You'll have to monitor the monster, and see what it does when it's enraged. However, there is another state monsters can go into called Exhaustion. That means that you tired them out, and they'll now move more slowly, and they're attacks will be weaker. Also, most projectile attacks they use will fail while exhausted. They'll also stumble around and trip more often. A usual sign that a monster is Exhausted is that they drool a lot. When Exhausted, a monster will usually leave an area to find food. Most will hunt smaller creatures and eat them, but there are a few exceptions. If you have Raw Meat and an item like a Toadstool or a Sleep Herb, you can combine them to make a trap meat item, that will inflict a status ailment on a monster if they eat it. Another quick tip is that monster usually get Exhausted soon after they Enrage.

You can get Jaggi armor easily by killing the Great Jaggi, and the smaller Jaggi and Jaggia and gathering they're materials. Velociprey and the Velocidrome, along with the Kut-Ku, if you want that sword, in the Expeditions. The Expeditions are randomly generated, so you might not get a Velocidrome or a Kut-Ku right away. I would say you might not get them at all, but at this point, I think the only other large monster you can encounter in Expeditions is Seltas, which shouldn't be too hard for you at this point. Although you honestly shouldn't NEED that sword. I killed mine with just the highest level Charge Blade I could get at that point in the game. The armor is the more important deciding factor.

And of course you should! Like I said very early on, Monster Hunter is a very grind heavy game, and you will be fighting the same monster over and over again to get it's parts, or heading to the same locations a few times to gather plants and ores. If you don't like that idea, then you perfectly justified in saying you don't like the game, and quitting. The gathering dosn't stop in the early game. Just today, I spent like 2 hours or so breaking White Monoblos horns, and killing Zamtrios so I could get enough materials to finish 2 sets of armor, and a couple of weapons, and I'm still not finished.

oh okay so that means it was half way dead correct?

okay so will it be better if i got the jaggi armor to fight the ketcha? or do i go with velocidrome armor? oh wait i know what monster your talking about to get the kut-ku great sword. yeah that monster kick my butt multiple times or just mostly just run off on me. what do you suppose i do to kick that monsters butt or kill it? it was actually the first monster i encounter when i first got it. in the expeditions hunts. and also i switch to great sword from the dual swords the dual swords didn't work for me.

oh i will i gues i have to if i need to get potions or other stuff i wanna survive a hunt so i can beat the monster and all that right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

goldeneagle1337 In reply to blackgeno [2015-05-15 04:28:49 +0000 UTC]

Not really. Monsters can Enrage multiple times in a fight. It depends on on how much damage they take how quickly. There are some monsters than can Enrage 4 or 5 times in a fight, and some that can even get double, or triple Enrage

Honestly, it's up to you. Velociprey does have a higher defensive value, but not by enough to make a real difference. And nether resist water damage, which the Ketcha Watcha uses for it's projectile. You already have 1 piece of Jaggi armor, so you might as well finish that.

As for the Kut-Ku, it's not a very hard monster once you learn it's attack pattern. Although if you need an extra hand, use sonic bombs. Those big ears of it's are very sensitive to loud noises. Barrel bombs, or even other monsters roars can cause it to be stunned and staggered. And it's head is a huge weak point, so go after him with a hammer, Hunting Horn, or Impact Charge Blade for a quick kill. Of course, if you need to do safe damage, you can always try to get between it's legs, and hack at it's belly.

And that's fine. Dual Swords are pretty tricky to use. Great Swords have the highest damage output in the whole game, provided you can get the timing for the charge attacks right. And it only has like 7 moves or so to remember for what little combos it can do. the best use of a GS is to get in a charged attack, roll out of the animation, sheath your weapon, and repeat as needed. If you knock them over, you can go for the big charge combo.

And yeah. Remember, it's Herb and Blue Mushroom for a potion, and add Honey to that for a Mega Potion. And also, don't forget to eat at the kitchen for a health and stamina boost. You probably won't get any skills from your current level with ingredients, but you should get in the habit of eating before a hunt all the same. If you check your start menu, you can look at your Combo List, to see what items you can combine. It won't tell you what it'll make until you make one for the first time, but it's a nice reference point.

oh really? is there no way to tell if the monster is almost dead?

okay so how do i get jaggi armor?

and really sonic bombs?  i didn't know that where can i get those? and okay will do.

and okay and also great swords are hard to use cause when i swing them they slowly hit the monsters so i don't think that will be a good weapon for me. what other weapon can i use?

okay got it.

goldeneagle1337 In reply to blackgeno [2015-05-15 05:02:08 +0000 UTC]

There are signs. When a monster starts limping, or runs away to it's nesting area to sleep, it's pretty close to dead.

... You already asked that. And I already told you. And you already have 1 piece. Did you forget how you got it?

You can't buy them You have to make them yourself.

Well, other hard hitting weapons that move a bit quicker are Long Swords, Lances and Gunlances, Charge Blade, and Switch Axe. I just remembered there's a Great Jaggi Switch Axe called the Barbarian Axe you can get that has a Poison Phial. I myself might get an upgraded version of it. The poison damage on it in Sword Mode is ridiculous
