Patch notes, November 22, 2015

Version 0.5:

BUG FIXES/TWEAKS/REMOVALS

- Fixed an error with the card shop in world 3 not giving the correct cards, which means that every card in the game can now be properly collected!
- Fixed still being able to talk to April during the feeding Anya minigame.
- Fixed a small bug which caused it to rain in Axi's house during the game's final scenes.
- Fixed a sprite error with Anya at the end of the game.
- Fixed a sprite error with some of Lilith's faces.
- Fixed an error in the slot machine minigame which failed to award coins for a specific line of matching symbols, and awarded coins for a specific line of mismatched symbols.
- Fixed the crystals on Belial changing colour when Tick interacts with them.
- Fixed many minor sprite errors in World 5 and throughout the game post World 5.
- Nerfed Overload because it was absurd.
- Not sure what's up with the scene in world 4 where Tick leaves th eparty. If this continues to repeat for people, please let me know.


ADDITIONS AND REVISIONS

- The Guest Room Key is now actually in the game and obtainable after world 4. This should mean that all the cards can be obtained as well!
- Added a secret event in world 4. Again, you'll have to find it for yourself~
- The safe in world 5 is now unlockable, but don't expect any hints on how to bust it open.
- Added a finale to the 'Carrie's Mom' quest between the end of world 6 and the Pit of Nezar.
- The Strange Formula item now adds an additional effect if used twice within 10 seconds.
- Strange Formula can now be stolen from Kira.
- Added a bit of 'fanservice' to the end of the game.
- Upped Linda's bust size because it's Linda.

0.4:

BUG FIXES/TWEAKS/REMOVALS

- Actually fixed Anya minigame not working past worlds 4 and 5.
- Fixed Nimue not actually being able to eat anyone.
- Fixed an error where Axi would be stuck displaying her stepping animation after the secret cutscene in world 4.
- Fixed an error with the right sluice house door after completing world 4.
- Fixed a few minor visual errors.
- Fixed an error where the final boss of Vorth Colosseum did not drop their special weapon when defeated.
- Fixed multiple errors with bosses being vulnerable to one hit KO moves, thus interfering with scripted events and breaking the game.
- Fixed an error in the comlink where the screen would fade out after choosing a specific option, then not fade back in.
- Hopefully fixed the random chance in a few boss fights resulting in never being able to kill the damn boss. (you'll know these when you get to them)
- Fixed the screen not fading back in after certain encounters in Vorth colosseum.

ADDITIONS AND REVISIONS

- Added a secret encounter in World 3. You'll have to discover it for yourself~
- Reaper Strike and Crude Magic are now learnable abilities!
- Tick can now equip Jamie's Panties. Changed Jamie's Panties' effect to avoid breaking boss fights.
- Changed the ability Tick gains from completing the crystal sidequest, again, to avoid breaking boss fights.
- Tweaked Third Wheel's secondary effect, yet again, to avoid breaking boss fights.
- 45 is no longer a learnable ability

0.3:

BUG FIXES

- Fixed Anya minigame not working past Worlds 4 and 5
- Fixed some dialogue in World 3 not updating properly.
- Fixed some cutscene and transfer errors in World 5 (players were able to go back to previous cutscenes due to incorrect transfer commands on some doors)
- Fixed recurring Tick cutscene in World 4
- Fixed the Tick crystal sidequest in World 5 not being completable
- Fixed Arci jumping off the screen if talked to repeatedly (lol)
- Fixed being able to walk through the wall in the World 3 sewers.
- Fixed the party change crystals taking you to Ivy's shop when you try to back out of the menu.
- Fixed miscellaneous dialogue errors and visual bugs.


0.2:

BUG FIXES

- Fixed a bug during battles with Nimrod, Evelyn and Gloriana, and the Pharaoh's Protector, which halted the battle at the end of the first turn.
- Fixed a game-breaking pathing bug in the Tick's House cutscene in world 4
- Fixed miscellaneous errors concerning character portraits, sprites, and pathing.
- Fixed a game-breaking bug in world 5 where restricted movement prevented a cutscene from ending.

ADDITIONS AND REVISIONS

- Tweaked the final boss of World 3 and the first Grosh encounter in world 5 to be slightly less difficult.
- Sample should now be the first ability to activate during the turn, regardless of the character's speed when activating.
- Sample no longer claims 'nothing happened' prior to the enemy's scan info when used.
- Enemies in the flooded ruins can now be scanned to reveal their stats and how many points they are worth.
- Added a miniboss to the Flooded Ruins which can be fought once per entry.

To play: download, extract, click the unicorn chess piece icon called 'game', enjoy.
Controls are: Z= select.
X= Open Menu, exit menus, back button
Shift= hold to run (important, considering some sections will be timed)
F1 = Opens a basic options menu for things like fullscreen, sound control, and gamepad configuration (yep, this works with a controller)

To those who wish to play the Beta:
Please, please, (caps)pleeaaaaase(/caps) let me know if you find any bugs, or what you think might be bugs, as there will certainly be many. That's why this is a beta version. I and a couple others have tested it extensively, but things change as more gets added, and thus there may be some weird errors. To those of you who wish to bug-test, keep a text document as you play, and write down anything that comes off as weird or wrong. When you're finished (or whenever really), send me a note with all the bugs you've found so I can get to work fixing them. Thanks!

Shoutouts to you using Paper Mario music! But seriously, never have I seen an RPG Maker game with so much effort put into it. The worlds are so expansive, and the art is amazing! Great job on this, and you should seriously calm down because I can't even imagine how much time you spent on this lol!

Super Paper Mario has the best soundtrack of any game I know, maybe tied with FF9 and No More Heroes 2. It's so inspirational~

Glad you like the game so much! It took a lot of time and effort, but it was very much worthwhile for me~

Muy bueno el juego, es bastante entretenido, lo malo es que como esta en ingles,.... y bueno.... yo no se mucho ingles.... me cuesta bastante entender los objetivos, dejando de lado eso..... realmente va le la pena jugarlo...

Fantastic game, seriously.  I dumped like 12 hours into this.

I beat it yesterday and I couldn't exit the credits room, is it possible to? I want to go back so I can explore all the stuff I glossed over for the sake of beating the main quest line

Sadly it's not possible to exit the credits room. It's got that Ocarina of Time thing going where you're supposed to tie up loose ends before entering the pit of Nezar.

Also, when the anya minigame first becomes available (at least, that's when I did it) you can still talk to April when she's not there. I didn't choose to stay the night, but I'd imagine that could really screw up the game. I just hit no and it was as if she wasn't there. I talked to her by accident, and as I was timed, I didn't think to try it again.

Hey, bad news, the Tick-leaving-the-party cutscene bug in world 4 is back again. <:V
Also, in the ending cutscene, the rain keeps going on, even when Axi and Griff are shown inside their house.
And the little casino section under the Inn in the hubworld seems to be bugged. I got three Lani's in a row and got nothing.

I also wanna ask, I found that datamancer on Parch and got Hazel's new invocation from it, and then she exploded. But does she appear again anywhere?

That damn cutscene! I'll look into it yet again~

I'll check the ending cutscene too. I have some idea why that's happening.

As for the casino, I was afraid that might happen. The slot machine was the most nightmarish thing in the game for me to program, and I'm terrified to touch it again, but I think I know what the issue is there too. Just not looking forward to fixing it.

Finally, the datamancer doesn't appear anywhere else. She may make another appearance in the future, but for now that's it~

Ok. Thanks for letting me know, I was worried I'd have to hunt her down or something.

I've also been meaning to ask, how many learnable abilities does Linda have aside from leveling up? I've found, off the top of my head:
3 in world 1
1 in world 2
None in world 3
2 in world 4
1 in world 5
None in world 6.
Am I missing any?

Oh god, that ceremony slayed me...

Good game so far, but I had massive issues in the tunnels to Carries.home island (forgot the name). I think I just suck at FF style battles.

Just got to said island. Can't wait to progress!

Also, are all of your characters playable at some point? A team with characters like Tess or April and Jake would be awesome.

This might be a bug. Im in the first part of the Earth Temple, and I think I hit a dead end with no way to go back. I'm stuck on the upper most right island.

Ok, wow. Nevermind. I think I fixed it somehow.
I let the cutscene play out, but then it faded to black, but the music for the hub world inn was playing so I pressed up and Z and spoke to April. After the sleeping music, the screen returned to normal. I went back to the ship, and it seems to be working now.

Well, while we're talking about the game, can you give me some hints?
Underneath the gusbuster building in world 1, there's a locked door to the bottom left that I have no idea how to unlock, and there a guy behind some bars in the same floor asking for something to drink. How do I solve this?

I think I may have forgotten to add the key which unlocks the guest room to the game, because I can't find any mention of it in the files.

If you find it somewhere, let me know, but I have a feeling I'll need to add it in for the next patch

I've been pouring over this game for the last sixteen some-odd hours. I've acquired a ton of items that aren't useful anymore (might be something worth looking into, btw), if I do have it, it ain't working.
What about that guy behind the bars? Any advice on him?

Also, I wanted to ask you, what do you get from the island ruins in world 1? The most I've ever gotten (that I recall) is 450 points and an elixir.

The key is related to the guy behind the bars.

As for the island ruins, they're mostly a renewable source of Elixers and Holy water X if you get a high enough score. Aside from that, there are some items you get from exploring the ruins which are useful.

interesting. I have Ace, never used regular VX (or the new one they're releasing soon haha)
If you need any help with Ace, I think i've got most of it down... Not sure how easy it'll be to upgrade from one to the other though. I hear they're not quite AC/DC compatible

I'm finding I have to do a lot of stuff for Ace from 'scratch', which is fine with me since there were a lot of aspects of VX which I found limiting, and I'm glad Ace gives me more support/freedom.

It seems the next version is much the same but with some additional features that we had to use scripts for previously.

I'll let you know. The only issue I'm having right now is with regard to music. I'd like to make the game all original material (aside from what's provided by RPG Maker) but that would mean getting an original soundtrack.

In any case, it's not a pressing concern right now~

I confess, I've not done much with music...
I know a bit a bout bit-rates (see what I did there?) and I know you can squeeze it down pretty well without too many glaring problems, depending on the range of your music.
I have started using my own voice clips and sounds in-game, but I am doing so pretty inexpertly and for some reason, Ace seems to randomly cut the sounds with a squeak at the start sometimes.
