Description
The roots of a lotus are in the mud, the stem grows up through the water, and the heavily scented flower lies above the water, basking in the sunlight. This pattern of growth signifies the progress of the soul from the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience, and into the bright sunshine of enlightenment. Though there are other water plants that bloom above the water, it is only the lotus which, owing to the strength of its stem, regularly rises eight to twelve inches above the surface.software used: bryce and photoshop

very nice, but 1 thing, "sitting on/standing on a lotus" is a symbol of the achievement of certian level in enlightenment. please be very careful about this, cuz every single pieces in all kinda buddhism art work, they all have very significant meanings. after all, your work is a very good 1st step.

Oh, yes indeed. A very beautiful flower, and very interesting too!
Here something to the importance of the lotus in buddhism:
"The roots of a lotus are in the mud, the stem grows up through the water, and the heavily scented flower lies above the water, basking in the sunlight. This pattern of growth signifies the progress of the soul from the primeval mud of materialism, through the waters of experience, and into the bright sunshine of enlightenment.
