[Comic adapted from Ogro's Avatar fanfiction, Distorted Reality.]

Side note, in the original fanfiction this scene is based on the web game, Escape to the Spirit World, where Aang goes to the spirit world to talk to his past lives.  At the time I didn't know that, so I used Aang talking to his past lives in The Old Masters as reference.  However, it's probably just as well, as I really needed this to be as simple as possible, and anything visual to do with the Spirit World is just not simple.

.

That's the prologue. Next scene is from chapter one of the fanfiction, The Boy in the Volcano. It will start from the beginning and go up through about the first half of the chapter.

Thanks for reading so far! Let me know what you think, and feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks!! C: (Lol, I was looking at my old AF comics, and I realized that this is going to be very nearly as many pages as all those combined. x3  I guess that's the advantage of having someone else already designed the characters.) Thanks! c: I'm trying to get better at that, there are so many subtle nuances and variations you can achieve in facial expressions, and sometimes a particular panel demands just the right one.

Hehe, oh yeah, I'm alive.  (I've just been getting sidetracked by various projects.  Since I started working on this new comic project, I've actually been drawing a ton more than I was.  I went through a long spell where I was only drawing little things here and there, and I wasn't getting a lot of inspiration.  So I feel like this has rejuvenated me quite a bit.  [And also simultaneously worn me out. xD!]) By the way, have you seen Avatar? (It was so popular several years ago, but I didn't see the entire series until just last year. x3)

Your'e welcome ! ^^
I see it, as the prologue is that long, i can imagine. And i love you're AF stuff(i even read one of you're fanfiction althougth i'm not english (i can't speak very well, but i can understand a lot)
Yes i know, it's pretty difficult sometimes, but i think i'm getting better at this too. I don't know if i'm as good as you by the way (and we can't compare, i didn't post a lot recently on my gallery '-')

Well... you can join the club with me o/ I'mnot very inspirated actually, and yes ionly draw little things too (a lot of chibies but no actual worked drawing)
Yes i have seen Avatar (when i was little i watched episodes when they passed on TV, but i didn't really watch the show entirely, but recently i did and i think it's pretty good, so i'm interrested by your story. I didn't see the sequel thougth (that Korra's thing))
Again, sorry if my english isn't really good, i'm working on it (i didn't try to search a traduction and tried to write it with the vocabulary i know x))

Heehee, thanks!! c: I've loved working on AF stuff, and I still have a ton of ones I started but never finished.  Some of them I'd like to get back to sometime.  (Oh did you really?  Which one?  Noble Heart's the only one that's still ongoing at the moment, I know I haven't updated in forever, but it's still in my mind to work on. x3  I think I just psyched myself out with it, but hopefully I can get some work done on it again soon.)

Yeah, I felt like for awhile I wanted to start a more ambitious art project, but I didn't feel particularly motivated about any ideas until this came along...I feel like just doing a lot of something is what helps people improve as an artist, so I try to keep that in mind.  x3 (I really like the stuff you have in your gallery, I love the way the colors look on your digital art.  And did you sculpt that Dialga?  I'm so bad at trying to do anything in 3D, that's amazing.)  I guess good luck to us both in getting more work done and improving. :3

Yeah, I watched a lot of the first season of Avatar awhile back, but I wasn't watching much anime or shows at the time, so I didn't get any further, so when I watched it again and got to season 2, I just sort of became enthralled. xD  I did like Korra, but it's probably more the original series that I'm more a true fan of.

Don't worry about it, I understand what you're saying. c: (And people improve with practice and time.) For me, I took several years of French and Japanese in school, but I still can't imagine trying to have any meaningful communication with anyone.  (I have enough trouble communicating in my first language a lot of the time, so if I need to read or write something in another language, I've been mainly relying on Google Translate. >>)

Actually i've read "The other paradox" a while ago, and i think i've read Noble Heart too, but i can't remember a lot. it's been a long time since i've read a AF fanfiction and i read a lot (crossover or not 'o'). Iliked the oher paradox, because i like to see other POV and it was well written (i could understand all, isn't it a proof ? o/) I think it can be pretty hard to write a story. i tried myself but never hanged on (i only wrote it in my end though).
You can do it hang on !

Thank you for the commentary about my gallery, and yes i've sculpted and painted that Dialga. I tried another but it had a little... accident. The painting phase is hard (i hade to repare that Dialga because i broke some parts while doing this). I didn't sculpt for a long time, but i did it again on that week end and that was fun (even if i made 30 min to find how i would start my idea). For the coloring i like the way i do it, but some people say that it's not that good, because my software isn't as good as SAI for example. I tried SAI for coloring but... nah it doesn't work with me i don't know why '-'
We could try to do a collab' once if we have any idea x)

I didn't even try Korra. Oh yes, the first episode i guess. I don't think i liked it as i didn't continue.

I can have a conversation in english i guess buut... only in writting because i've the time to think about what i'll say. Oral is less good '-' And sometimes in french i loose words,, it's not really great (sometime i even know the word in english and not in french, i should stop reading english thing all the time i guess xD)

Oh yeah, I'm sure it's been a while. x3 (I finished The Other Paradox back in 2012, and it's been forever since I updated NH. I can't believe how long it's been...) I'm glad you liked it, I had so much fun with that. C: (I remember as I was reading The Time Paradox not being at all sure what was going through Holly's mind on some things, and thinking of multiple possibilities, and deciding it would an interesting challenge to choose one and write it out. I think it helped me out a lot in figuring out more of Holly's character in preparation for other fic(s). For me, Holly seemed the toughest character to write.)

Augh, seems like that always happens. (Things go wrong, and you spend more time on a project than you thought you would. Turned out awesome, though. Lol, and I completely relate to that '30 minutes to start an idea' thing. Even doing the most basic of sketches for this comic, I usually spend thirty minutes or more per page...most of the time I spend just sitting there, trying to figure out what should come in the next panel, what character to show, how close, what angle, what expression and body language, if there should be a background, etc., etc. Sometimes formulating an idea and a plan for how to proceed can take just as long as the execution. x3)

Yeah, I like it a lot, I like the look. Oh yeah, I've heard of SAI, but I haven't tried it out. (I've read online that SAI is really good for inking, because it has a brush stabilizer [which Photoshop, which I use, doesn't], so it might be worth it for me to try it out. (I think there's a trial version you can try before committing to buying it?) Although, I already have MangaStudio EX4, which does something similar. What program do you use?

Oh yeah, we should! C: What kind would you want to do? Let me know if you have any ideas. (;

Yeah, I guess a lot of people didn't like Korra as much as ATLA, and some people didn't even watch it, though some liked it more than ATLA. I liked Korra well enough, and it did some really interesting things, but yeah, it's really ATLA I'm a fan of. (I think maybe I just didn't connect to the characters of Korra as much, although the animation is amazing.)

If I knew enough of another language to be able to communicate with people, I'd probably be the same way, better with writing than speaking. (When it comes to English, I'm much better at communicating in writing than speaking. x3) Language is a complicated thing...

I want to try to do a comic once, but i don't know i i would succeed because even if i've the storry i can't find a storyboard. I don't know how i should place the different panel or what angle or else... maybe i'm just to lazy for some of this '-'
I usually have great idées (for me) in my head, but i never do it cause either i forget it or i think it won't be really good finally or i think i won't be able to do it as great as i thougth '-'

I use gimp. it's the one i'm the most used too. And a version of SAI to do my lines now. It's better than with gimp. ^^
As for the collab i'm not sure to have idea now but e can discuss it by notes no ? Wether we would do fanart or orignial art, or which of us will do which part of the collab' x)
Maybe i should try it to see. Once if i've nothing else to do or watch. I usually discover things when i'm bored '^'
Yes, and french isn't the easiest language to learn i think. When i compare with english or some other languages i can see that ^^'

Yeah, comics are a killer. X3 (I'm the same, I can't even say how many times I've psyched myself out before even starting a project, and so never even tried. x3) But, with this particular comics project, I'm trying to overcome that a little. I think the way to get better at comics (and writing, and drawing in general) is just to jump in and do it, and learn over time through mistakes and various issues that arise. I'm trying to find that balance between putting a fair amount of effort into it, without over-obsessing on the details. (That is, just accepting mistakes and things that didn't quite work, and instead of spending an age trying to redo the whole thing over and over to make it 'perfect,' just moving onto the next thing with the hope of doing better next time.) Or at least, that's what I want my mentality to be as I work on this comics project. (Not sure at this point if I'm actually going to get past this first comic, we'll see. x3)

Oh yeah, Gimp is pretty popular. (I love that you can download it for free, it's a pretty powerful tool. And if a person ever wants to move to Photoshop, knowing how Gimp works really well in preparation for that. I only used Gimp for a little while before I got Photoshop, so I never really learned it very well [I used opencanvas mainly], but I know a lot of the features work the same way.)

Sure, if you get any ideas you'd be interested in doing, let me know, I think that would be fun. :3

Yeah, I think it's the same with English. When we were in our English classes in school, I remember teachers saying how English was a hard language to learn, because a lot of the rules don't make logical sense. (Such as some verb conjugations and such.) Not to mention the spellings...lots of weird spellings on words in English. x3

I think it explains why i'm not doing any comics rigth now '^'
But i'm doing a story with a friend, and maybe i will do
a comic of it. I have hope o/

I didn't try to buy photoshop actually, gimp is efficient for me and
i don't really want to pay photoshop. And
dont want to download it either.

I don't know yet what idea i can have, but if you have some on your own once,
don't hesitate either. We can do for example a scene with characters or
originals character, or a meme x)

Oh don't worry, in french it's the same about the rules without logical sens.

Haha, that sounds fun, let me know if you do, I'd like to see it. :3

Lol, they say Photoshop isn't really necessary if you're just drawing for fun, Gimp does have pretty much all the features you need for digital drawing. (That being said, when I did get Photoshop, I was really glad I did, just for how good the quality of the brushes are. When I was working on the TTP comic, I originally did the first page or two in Gimp, but ended up redoing it in Photoshop because I liked the look so much more. Huh, I wonder if I still have the copy of the original versions, maybe I could put them up in my scraps.) But, Gimp is a really powerful tool, and a lot can be done with it. (And you're right, you can't beat the price.)

Sure, let me know. C:
