Description I did not see anything with this quote on it, so I made it. I saw this quote on a picture on Tumblr and thought it was pretty awesome since I've thought the same thing. If I find the picture again on Tumblr, I'll paste it here. Edit: Found it knowledgeappliedispower.tumblr…

The thought of a man, woman or child being raped and blamed for it because of their clothing is bewildering and vastly idiotic on mankind's behalf. No one should ever be assaulted and forced in a situation like that nor blamed because of some unstable twit who is a sexual predator that needs mental help. If anything, rapists should be prohibited to walk the streets since many are not mentally fit to control themselves when they see a person wearing "suggestive" clothing.

I never heard a case of this.
My cousin was raped. She was overweight and mentally retarded.

Rape is not about what clothes the victim wears - it's about vulnerability.

Great stamp.

I'll have an even more stupid example. Two men witnessed underage girls riding away in a car with two strangers at 1 in the night, so those two men found the girls, beat up the strangers and raped the girls, because "What were the girls thinking stepping in a car with two guys at night/If we wouldn't rape them, those other men would".

    Great stamp. Fav'd.

It is extremely pathetic to tell the victim it is their fault for wearing revealing clothing. People can wear what they damn well want and should not have to worry about being jumped and raped by some prick.

Shit like this gets me so angry.

I don't really think of this as an excuse, but more of an explanation.
No matter how stupid/senseless of an explanation it may be.
Most of the time rapists in general are unstable, so I think that should also should be considered.
Not to say that they're not scumbags. They're still despicable for it.

I think so to.

UnholyKira [2012-12-29 00:47:49 +0000 UTC]

I'm on both sides here. A lot of the time the victim is being an idiot. Wearing clothing that just barely covers you is never a good idea, and you're more likely to get raped if you do.

That being said, nothing excuses rape. It's just two sides of the same coin here, the victim was an idiot(Not EVERY time), and the rapist was a douche.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

ayame18 In reply to UnholyKira [2012-12-29 22:44:32 +0000 UTC]

Wearing revealing clothing may be immodest to me, but I'd never consider one an idiot for wearing it. A person should wear whatever they want and they should not have to worry about anyone trying to harm them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UnholyKira In reply to ayame18 [2012-12-30 01:35:28 +0000 UTC]

In the context it's worn in it's usually their fault. Night-clubs, bars... etc. Sorry but there's a difference between revealing clothing and just plain stupid... Just a personal opinion, yes the rapist is at fault but there IS ways to prevent these things, and to act like nothing is your fault is ignorant.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ayame18 In reply to UnholyKira [2012-12-30 15:17:47 +0000 UTC]

I know, but I personally feel that is still not a valid excuse for anyone to rape someone. The rapist's actions are to blame alone since their logic is they feel they can force themselves upon someone because one's clothes enticed them. And many cases, a woman (or man or child) doesn't even wear revealing clothing and they get raped. What does that say about them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UnholyKira In reply to ayame18 [2012-12-30 20:18:05 +0000 UTC]

I don't think you read my whole comment. I did say it wasn't an excuse and I agree with you there. I do think people are being stupid by wearing revealing clothing though. Yes people get raped without wearing revealing clothing and that sucks too, but a lot of the time it's not just the rapist, it's also the victim being stupid. (Not every time, and against YES the rapist's actions are inexcusable)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ayame18 In reply to UnholyKira [2012-12-31 20:39:17 +0000 UTC]

I see. I somewhat agree, but I still don't like the fact that a individual has to be wary of their clothing or their surroundings due to a sexual predator that could be lurking nearby.

audhdlassiedog In reply to UnholyKira [2012-12-29 00:58:13 +0000 UTC]

I'd agree, but because, according to what I've read, rapists look for women who are wearing clothes that they can get off quickly. They also look for women who are least likely to put up a fight.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

audhdlassiedog [2012-12-29 00:40:26 +0000 UTC]

Good grief. Most red-blooded males out there are going to be "turned on" by immodest clothes, I guess, but to say that rape is the woman's fault for wearing immodest clothes is utter stupidity. We have instincts, but we also have a mind that can override those instincts and it is our mind that we use to consciously make such decisions. It's called self-control, dumbbutt. And if you don't have any, then you deserve to be put behind bars because you're a menace to society. Deal with it.

Rant over.
In short, I agree with this stamp.

ayame18 In reply to VampGoddess97 [2012-12-28 20:38:05 +0000 UTC]

Definitely. That thought should never cross anyone's mind since it's no one's fault but the rapist for assaulting the victim.
Many thanks for commenting.
